The nose is mild with only a minimum amount of hops and slightly toasted malt to be smelt, so it didn’t turn me on right away. Flavors are somewhat bland and go unnoticed, although, there is an undeniable presence of toasted malts and some strong healthy yeast, but I just didn’t find much I liked about this Monk’s brew to talk about. jbrus (4883), Delft, Netherlands

Hazy, amber colour, irregular off-white head, no lace. Rather sweet, port, banana, fruity, white grapes, pineapple. Sparkling. Powerful, complex, bit past it’s prime I’m afraid. RIXbeer (102), USA

Pours a chocolate ruby with a 1/4" bubbly head. Looks great! Can you say smokey? Spicy? how about a little of both with a nice raisin undertone intertwined with sugary sweetness. Nice tangy peach, coriander, spice, and very sweet. I can’t place the smoke but it’s there but less in the taste than in the smell. There’s a thickness to this beer but not to bad. Leaves a nice creamy coating on the palate. This beer is a big hit rauchbier (3002), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England

Hazy amber, thin white head and moderate condition. Good yeasty dubbel-like aromas with figs and alcohol apparent, spirity and spicy in the mouth with more figgy fruitiness, some banana esters, yeast and a touch of chocolate, lingeing warming finish with fruit and yeast most dominant.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2007 500 ml bottle, via sk8viking. Pours a cloudy orange body with lots of chunky floaties churning about. Ridiculous amounts of carbonation, some gushing from the bottle. The carbonation was so heavy in my glass that the head actually climbed over the rim more than once. Intensly syrupy maltiness with a light touch of sour green apple and lots of alcohol vapors on the nose. Quite fruity with some pineapple, tropical fruits, and brown sugar. The flavor is hugely fruity as well with tons of both alcohol and sweet candi sugar. Finishes with sweet toffee malt, marzipan, and peppery alcohol. Mouthfeel is full and thick, almost syrupy with surprisingly nice soft fizzy carbonation. I suppose that so much of it blew off before I actually drank any. Very warming finish. Overall, this was just not the kind of Quad I prefer. I need more dark fruits and more depth. Too much alcohol apparency also ruined it for me as well. Upon entering this, I see that it’s now a BSA, when I first got this it was listed under Quads. This may have been somewhat to blame for my seemingly low score. bu11zeye (5603), Frisco, Texas, USA

Strong alcoholic aroma of florals, citrus, touch of white chocolate, whiskey barrel, banana, peaches, and caramel. Flavor of vanilla, mild floral, caramel, and dried fruits. Complex and very interesting. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Hazy amber ale with a small, frothy, white head. Decent retention. Breadsy, boozy aroma with lots of white bread, alcohol and fuzzy fruit sweetness... whispers of golden raisins and maple syrup. Boozy, breadsy flavor as well. Medium high in esters; low in phenols. Simple, straight-forward and sassy! Sweet, but not cloyingly so. Straight-up caramel. Full-bodied and syrupy with lively carbonation. Sweet, boozy, breadsy finish. Thanks goes out to boboski for sharing his bottle with us! TheCheeseMan (539), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA

Aroma reminds me of bananas foster, perhaps more brown sugar than anything, but I do get some of the spices and a slight fruitiness. The alcohol is present. Flavor is huge. Candi sugar is evident, but is dancing gracefully. Excellent
