cbkschubert (1519), Skyline, Arizona, USA Jul 12, 2008 750 ml bottle from Plaza Liquors - Notes are a little vague. Pours a dark brown color with a nice size light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is esters and spice. Flavor is esters, light roasted malt, and spice. A nice beer, but took a little effort to drink the whole bottle. JK (2355), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 7, 2008 Smooth palate. Aroma and flavor have fruit, there are figs and plums. Black in color. Sweet malt. Some sweet Christmasy spices. Very nice palate, thick and heavy. Snojerk321 (879), San Diego, California, USA Jul 5, 2008 750ml bottle. My first Mikkeller was a killer! Poured opaque with a giant wispy tan head. Nose of cocoa dust, nutmeg and other spices with some toasted malt rounding things out. Big bold chocolate flavor with some spiciness. A very full bodied beer. MrBendo (974), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jun 29, 2008 750ml bottle cellared for about 7 months. Dark brown pour, nearly opaque in the glass with a medium head. Nice Lace.
Aroma was a mix of chocolate, roasted malts, yeast, prunes and peppery spices. Alcohol is well covered. Medium-thin body. Spicy aftertaste. This one might give you heartburn if you drink too much in a sitting. WeeHeavySD (1539), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 29, 2008 750 via trade some time ago. I’ve been holding poor expectations for this since hearing so many bad things but what the hell, its got get drunk. Pours black with a ring faded from a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet, spiced and muted. Taste is slightly chocolaty and less spiced than the nose portended. Overall better than I expected. Pretty smooth after cellaring.
