Commercial Description:
Originally brewed by Mikkeller, Denmark. Recent batch brewed by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.
The third in the series of single hop IPAs from Mikkeller. Brewed with Cascade, a true American classic hop type. This hop is less powerful than the ones used in the previous two single hop IPAs - creating a great balance with the beers other aspects.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pilsner, cara-crystal and munich), hops (cascade) and yeast.

Hoppy aroma with light citrus. Cloudy orange color with a large white head. Sweet in the beginning with a sharp bite at the end.

Bottle from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Hazy copper color with a four finger beige head. Pine needle aroma. About medium body with sharply frothy carbonation. Flavor is lots of pine over lightly roasted caramel. So much pine I’m not really getting much of anything else. Meanwhile the head is doing a lot of circular lacing. Finish is pretty hoppy, but a mild, not burning bitter, hop. IBU might be around 100, but the hop is restrained. Still my mouth lining may eject. Damn but this is good stuff. The desert island ale.

slightly hazy reddish-orange, fluffy off-white head, a bit lacy. nose of mild pine hops. flavor is pretty big pine bitterness, trace of creaminess. medium bodied, big bitter pine finish. the big bitterness is there, but not much else to distinguish this one. seemingly a one trick pony. single bottle form binny’s o.p.

11.2 oz bottle. I was very excited to finally try a few Mikkeller’s single hop ipa selections. On the aroma, there was unsuprisingly a good deal of fresh cascade hops but those standing by themeselves give a variety of hop notes with the strongest being a heavier earthy pine, with lighter floral and mild citrus fruits taking a secondary role. Also, notes of biscuit, caramel, and lighter grassy grains. Pour was very pretty with large, dense, cloud cream head, very good retention, a semi-cloudy medium body, and a bright copper color. As far as the feel goes, this a very nice feeling ipa, with good full flavors, just the right amount of bite, and a hoppy bitter finish and linger that’s not overly sticky or chewy at a good abv. Definitely cascade and more cascade in the flavor, but this really works out nicely. Cascade really is all you need, especially when it comes to a good sessioning ipa. The flavors aren’t incredibly bold, but as Mikkeller describes, makes a seemingly more easily balanced ipa. Main flavors notes again include a prominent pine, a flowery-leafy earth, medium melon fruits, some citrus that lighter on the acidic and fruity side of things, biscuits, some caramel cereal, and a light pale crisp malt. All in all, this was not a simple tasting as I expected and really quite a good showcase of a single hop ipa. Very impressed, and very glad to a have experienced cascade hops as they are here.

Bottled, Pikkulintu. Dark amber color, good cloudy off-white head, Sweat, cascade hops, some fruityness in the nose. Quite sticky-hoppy, dry hoppy flavor, woody. Straightforward, maybe not the tastiest hoppy beer but ok.

12oz bottle. Pours a medium copper color, slightly hazed with a big off white head that left some spotty lacing. Big citrus nose that is jumping with tangerine, lemon and also a tropical fruit, maybe pineapple or mango? Flavor was also very citrusy with light to medium hop bitterness on the finish. Another great one from Mikkeller.
