Commercial Description:
Originally brewed by Mikkeller, Denmark. Recent batch brewed by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.
The third in the series of single hop IPAs from Mikkeller. Brewed with Cascade, a true American classic hop type. This hop is less powerful than the ones used in the previous two single hop IPAs - creating a great balance with the beers other aspects.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pilsner, cara-crystal and munich), hops (cascade) and yeast.

The Dan Journal #286. Tasted 8/21/09. Fifth of five of the Mikkeller Single Hop beers. Very pleasant aromas with a mild citrus note. Medium bodied and tasty. Flavors of citrus and a touch perfumy. Mild bitterness, but it amplifies as it lingers. This was my favorite of the bunch.

I’m trying the Cascade immediately after the Warrior version. Bountiful starting head that leaves extensive lace on the glass. Hazy orange-amber color. A relatively malty version of an American IPA. The hop is milder than most. Nice balance. I find this to be a better tasting (due to an increased complexity) from the Warrior version. But this improvement is diminished by the lighter body. Overall, it’s a pleasant and remarkably drinkable IPA.

POurs orange. Nose is a pungent citrus and pine. Fresh grapefruit, hints of bubblegum. Flavor is nice sweet malt and hop bitterness. Oranges, lemon, grapefruit and sticky pine.

Bottle from the Super Jr. Market: Pours an aggressive shade of orange..mystified with haziness, topped with everlasting thickness of a creamy persuasion. Nose smelled of maturity, surprisingly...slow roasted orange, freshly whipped cream, parfait, creamcyles...something orange. Hop flavors taste diminished...but body is still there. No idea how long this was on the counter...but, even with age, this ipa tastes nicely refined. THe flavors here are sweeter and more akin to jasmine flowers than what a fresh cascade would give out...but regardless, it still tastes mighty fine. I’ll try some fresh(er) at some point, I hope...and will re-rate.
