| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Bottled at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Clear amber, huge tight white head. Nose is soft spiciness, lime, dust and hints of caramel, not too fresh. Sweetish flavor, not the cascade I’d hoped for, dust, spicy hops, old fruits. Surprisingly stodgy, a missed opportunity. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours mostly clear, significantly moreso than some others in the single hop series. Dark, brassy amber in hue, the body is topped with a thick head of smooth, ivory colored foam. Dense flares of lacing jut up from below, breaking apart slightly to jagged, obtuse spots. The aroma is odd for the style, notes of burnt toast and scorched caramel malt coming across very smoky, almost acrid. Estery lemon and pine needle hops lend balance, while bready Belgian yeast adds some pepperiness. Flavors show those same smoky crystal and burnt bread malts, again sharp and acrid, which intensifies the bitterness of the grapefruit, lemon, and pine resin hops. The finish is ultra-long and ashy, bitter hops and smoke sticking to the roof of the mouth. This one seems out of place within the series, and doesn’t really impress one bit. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2009 Pours hazy red-orange color with off white head. Aroma of bitter orange pith, caramel, lemon, some cherry and grapefruit. Flavor is a good combination of sweet and bitter, with lemony citrus bitterness up front and sweet caramel balancing it out with some other light fruity notes in the middle. Bitterness lasts until long after the sip. Delicious. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

Leaves some lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is strong hops, pine, wood, some sweet malts, and earthy notes. Flavor explodes in the mouth. Hops, citrus , sweetness, and spice all make it a great beer. My first Mikkeller. I can’t wait to try the others. Great beer. dimenhetfield (196), , Florida, USA
