| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a decent white head. Leaves some lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is strong hops, pine, wood, some sweet malts, and earthy notes. Flavor explodes in the mouth. Hops, citrus , sweetness, and spice all make it a great beer. My first Mikkeller. I can’t wait to try the others. Great beer. dimenhetfield (220), , Florida, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2009 Bottle from Hop City. Best before Jan 8, 2011. (A two and a half-year old IPA?? No thank you!) Pours a hazy orange with a tall white head. The head is dense and lasts the entire time the beer resides in my glass. The aroma is floral and juicy with pineapple and grapefruit. It’s a bit musty with some grainy character. The flavor is very hoppy, but not overly bitter really. Just lots of hop flavor. Plenty of citrus is on my palate with some herbal spiciness. The finish is dry and barely sour. This is a pretty straight forward IPA with no real malt quality to speak of. Not bad. Reminds me of a rougher Sierra Nevada-type brew. sfhodense (616), Odense NØ, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2009 11.2 fl oz bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in Overland Park, Kansas.

Pour is clearish orange copper with a big (3 inch) light tan head. A
few bubbles rise to the surface. Head falls slowly, revealing a bunch
of thick lacing. Aroma of caramel sweetness, mild resin bitterness,
soft pear fruit notes. Nice fresh and engaging nose. Nothing
aggressive, just really clean and inviting. Taste is very different
from the nose - big grainy resin right away, along with a sappy
juniper like harshness. The fruit is mildly sour and is towards the
back. The aftertaste is more of the resin bitterness, with some dusty
earthiness and a bright, almost black pepper twinge. Palate is medium,
long mouth coating after taste. It was bizarre how much the nose
varied from the taste of this. Still loving this experiment - I think I like this hop in Barley Wines, not so much stand alone IPA. alagnak (381), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2009 Nose was sweeter than expected. Malty apple and touches of citric hops. Flavor is a little muddled and slightly watery upfront. As it warms, it has a nice perfumey hop bitterness, with some earthiness and sweetness. Good, but not something I’d seek out again.
