Commercial Description:
Originally brewed by Mikkeller, Denmark. Recent batch brewed by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.
The third in the series of single hop IPAs from Mikkeller. Brewed with Cascade, a true American classic hop type. This hop is less powerful than the ones used in the previous two single hop IPAs - creating a great balance with the beers other aspects.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pilsner, cara-crystal and munich), hops (cascade) and yeast.

12 oz. -> shaker. Poured a dense, hazy burnt orange-amber. Amazing frothy off-white head, which leaves nice lacing on the glass, and a nice pillow on the surface of the beer. Smells of hops. Yes, Cascade hops. Citrus-y, earthy, and grassy. Tastes like grapefruit-citrus-y, with a mild caramel note in the middle. Strong bitterness on the end like any classic AIPA.

Bottle. Pale yellow, a bit cloudy liquid with a rather large, white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of citrus, sweet berries and some soap. Taste is surprisingly complex and has notes of northern forest rather than tropical paradise. Spruce and mire followed by an earthy finish with a herbal bitterness. Some notes of citrus and pineapple. Rather nice, but a bit unbalanced.

Pours beautifully, a hazy golden color with a nice thick head. Scattered lacing inside thje glass. Floral, honetsuckle nose with a hint of peach. Medium bodied and lightly coating the mouth. Semi balanced flavor but cascade edges out. A nice yet pricey (4.99/12oz.) IPA.

Nice crisp copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head with some large bubbles. Aroma of strong perfume, bright citrus and pine, grapefruit and a bunch of very mouthwatering hops - nice cascade scents, obviously. Medium-bodied; VERY assertive and bittering hops up front, definitely a pleasant taste. Aftertaste shows citrus and grapefruit with a bit of pine, but the potency of the hops really shines afterwards. Overall, a nice refreshing beer, that shows the cascade well and the balance absolutely perfect for the style. Reminds me of a very fresh hopped ale that is light and bitter. Definitely worth trying if you can find it - I liked this better than the Nugget and Simcoe. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Dean & Deluca in Washington (Georgetown), DC earlier today, sampled at home in Washington on 01-December-2009.

330 ml bottle. Amber. Hazy. Citrusy and slightly minty. Fruity with hints of apricot. Quite bitter. Medium-bodied, but perhaps a little too light for a beer this bitter. Overall a very tasty beer.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of roasted, caramel, nutty, herbs and orange peel, light dough for the yeast, with background notes of wood, pepper and date. Head is large, frothy, slightly off-white with fair lacing and is fully lasting. Flavor starts moderately acidic and the lengthy finish is moderately acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is medium, watery, with a fizzy carbonation and a very dry finish. Great aroma but a little out of balance in the flavor. Again, interesting to have just one variety of hops to contemplate in a beer.

strong, throat stinging flavor of hops and alcohol. Kind of makes me want to cough. Very estery and floral. Bottle from Knightly Spirits, Orlando.

The Dan Journal #286. Tasted 8/21/09. Fifth of five of the Mikkeller Single Hop beers. Very pleasant aromas with a mild citrus note. Medium bodied and tasty. Flavors of citrus and a touch perfumy. Mild bitterness, but it amplifies as it lingers. This was my favorite of the bunch.

Big and bold. Cascade is a dominating hop that lingers on the tongue. This is a solid IPA. great flavor
