| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 27, 2009 Exceedingly dry yet nicely herbal, green and lemony. Near-clear yellow, fuzzy small white head. Seductive aromas seem to involve peach, candy lemons, sweet grassy aromas, ganja. Taste is a big bite of grapefruit rind, nothing held back Bitterness builds exponentially, making the palate puckeringly tight. Some melony-apricot fruit hiding in there? Ultimately a difficult beer, but OH the aroma. Mikkel knows his shit. Soonah (970), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2009 From jrob21 via trade. Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a thick, white to off-white head that produced terrific lacing. The aroma was bitter pine with slight hints at softer floral notes. The flavor is light spice and flowers quickly steamrolled by pine hops. Nice mouthfeel. Easy to drink. Of the three of these Mikkeller beers I’ve had, the others being Warrior and Cascade I actually found this one to be the most boring. justinehrlich (18), New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Looks and pours great; big fat creamy head with excellent staying power. Murky apricot orange in colour. Nose is very very lifted with bright and clean passionruit and grapefruit. Impressive. Hops really take over in the mouth although the passionfruit certainly lurks in the background. Sharper hops and bitternes come into play, the former a little green and raw to my tastes. Almost like sour grapefruit. Slight biscuity note to finish. Would be tough to drink a lot of this in one sitting. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA
| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jul 25, 2009 11.2 oz bottle via Hagen. Pours a very hazy orange with a very large off-white head. Nose is all about the piney reasiny Simcoe hops. I am sooo looking forward to this as Simcoe hops are my #1 fav (along with Centennial). Mmmm this is hop hop hopalicious. Starts bittersweet, ends dry and bitter and in between is lots of mouthpuckering goodness..flavors of pine, grapefruit, orange-rind, pine, more pine, some pineapple, some more grapefruit and then pine which last long into the glorious aftertaste. 2 minutes later i can still taste it. Yum fracking yum.
Body is medium/full, carbonation is medium. THis is one of the few beers i can say was worth buying at $6 for an 11.2 oz bottle! Boutip (2399), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2009 Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty brown color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter and somewhat citrus hops with a very perceptible malt base. Taste is dominated by floral piney notes with some astringent notes and a dry caramel malt base underneath it all. I can understand why people sometime qualify this as the cat pee hops. Body is quite full with limited filtration and great carbonation. Very well done though the Nugget is still my favorite.
