Something in the aroma which I don’t particularly like, kind of a dirty smell - is this Simcoe? Nice sticky citrus laste - bitter finish.Interesting. tomer (380), Rishon Le Zion, Israel
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 21, 2009 At a tasting, thanks DSG. Hazy dark orange colour, hoppy aroma knocking you down, aromas of citrus and peach boxing their way out of the bottle. Flavours of peach, mandarine and dried apricot coupled with a dtrong but not over the top bitterness which also dominates the finish. sneagrams3 (1756), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Clinging bone white head. Aromas of Grapefruit citrus and pine. Mildly earthy. Medium bodied and bright. Big bitterness and a prominent effervescence. Grapefruit and other citrus fruits. Faint wisp of vanilla cake sweetness. Hits the bitter part of the tongue and just grabs hold. Finishes with a mixture of bright remnant of hops, Sticky yet zesty body. and a tingling residue of effervescence. This is not an everyday for me, but a fun splitter. I look forward trying the others in the series. TASTED AGAIN WITH THE REST. Fourth of five. Comparatively, this was rather tart and dry. badlizard (2345), Berkeley, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2009 33cl bottle. Pours an extremely cloudy, dark golden, brownish orange with a thick off-white head that leaves a thorough mess of whipped-egg-white-like lace all over the glass. The aroma is pungent Simcoe. There are some soft, earthy, slightly sweet and malty notes in there, too - but mostly that spicy, almost-stinky (and yet so beautiful - a paradox not unlike the awesome smell that is a stinky, runny cheese), piney, earthy aroma that is Simcoe. I’ve heard the funkiness described as "catty" - I can see that... The aroma is surprisingly low in esters. The flavor starts with a thick, bready, crackery malt current with spicy, citrusy, decadent hop flavor. Towards mid-palate, there is a distinct earthiness, soft grassiness, and pleasing piney/citrusy quality to the bitterness which is surprisingly smooth. Also at mid-palate, some esters emerge and mingle with the melange of hop tones - anise, candied ginger, and mandarin orange altogether. The finish is dry and hoppy. The mouthfeel seems a little less creamy and a little more brisk and sudsy next to the other two I’ve tried (Mikkeller’s warrior and cascade single hop IPAs). It is medium-full bodied with a decent tickle of carbonation. Overall, a very nicely done IPA.
