Bottle and served in classic no-nik pint glass: Hazy amber gold hue with an initial big fluffy head which produced outstanding lacework upon the glass work. The aroma is well... SIMCOE Duh, juicy fruity and herbal with some resiny pine and garlic catty undertones along with bready pale malts and a hint of caramel, white pepper and a dash of mineral water. The taste follows suit to a tee... hoppy, fruity, catty, and peppery with a layer of pale malts. Chalky and minerally finish. As is the case of most single hopped brews it is a bit one note, but when done right that one note is beautiful sounding. With this brew, that is the case. The mouth feel is sprite but not over-the-top, I did find the chalky finish more than a bit distracting however. All told, one simple but beer geek worthy brew. Well played Mikkeller!

11.2 oz bottle shared by Enniskillen. Nose of ivy plants (simcoe is the hop I get this particular odor from when it’s in a beer), a little sweetness, and a touch of caramel maltiness. Cloudy copper with a medium glass-lacing offwhite head. Flavor of ivy with very strong bitterness.Finish is bitter with a hint of sweet.

Amber with a nice off white head. Aroma is dried apricots, lightly hoppy, mixed dried fruit, light alcohol. Taste is a mild floral hoppiness, light alcohol, mild maltiness but strong for an IPA. A bit brash.

Pours orange with a thick off white head that eventually settles a bit. Nice aroma, light malt, heavy grapefruit. Pine hops and solid bitterness at the very end. Another solid beer from Mikkeller.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of garlic. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Simcoe isn’t a great single-hopping choice IMHO due to the slightly unpleasant aromatic character, but in most other ways it’s fine. Pretty middle-of-the-pack on a world scale, but if you have a particular affinity for this hop variety it might be worth the high price.

Powerful hoppy nose with mango and blue cheese. A lot of mango in the taste. Good bitterness. Extremely interesting.

Bottle… mgumby10’s & hopscotch’s WtFFfFDotF Throwdown … Murky golden ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. Big, musky, citric, Simcoe/cat pee aroma with a pleasant whiff of understated toffee malt. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Pungent, earthy and insanely dry with very little residual sugar – maybe over attenuated. Lengthy, bitter, Mojave-dry finish. Bottle provided by mgumby10!

Bottle. Plenty of fresh simcoe hops and grass in aroma. Very intense aroma. Unclear orange colour with beige head. Bitter hops flavour very grapefruitlike. Very dray aftertaset as expected.
