20090218 11.2oz bottle from State Line. Cloudy (my fault) light amber with tall, rocky, lasting off white head. Aroma fills the room with pine needles, fresh pineapple, grapefruit, and light cat pee. Oh so tight flavors in line with aroma, light biscuit malts, biting resinous hops, and lingering tropical fruits and citrus pith. Wonderful rendition of an American IPA from these guys. Body is soft, light, and quick. Bitterness is quick and biting. Excellent, stylish, inspired.

Bottle. Amber beer with a big dark cream color. Huge grapefruit and light pine aroma. Piney, grapefruit flavor with a little musty earthiness. Medium body. Nice bitterness. Grapefruit and pine resin lingers. Some tropical fruitiness throughout. Pure hops. Nice.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a large, creamy white head with great lace over a hazy orange body with some particles. Aroma is grassy with spicy and pine like hops, a bit of melon, fresh grainy malt and a bit of papaya. Taste is not very bitter, a ton of malt sweetness with a fruity hop finish. Light bubbles and a water like mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a thick light tan head. Aroma of of grassy and citrus hops. Flavor of sweet grapefruit and bitter grassy hops with a sweet citrusy finish. The hops have held up nicely on this beer’s overseas journey. Very delicious! 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5) Update 3/4/09: Second time around I get a lot more caramel malt in this as well as more fruity notes (tropical fruit, some citrus, and a touch of lemon). Less grapefruit and grassy hops than before. Very smooth and refreshing. The palate is simply heavenly. I’m enjoying this a lot more, so I’m gonna bump the score on this one. 8/4/9/5/17 (4.3/5)

Bottle, 10/22/08. Aroma quite bitter with only a touch of toasty malt in the background, but pine needles and oranges are at the forefront. Flavor citrusy (lemon, grapefruit), piney, especially toward the end. Sweet biscuit/croissant malt there the whole time. Big, gritty, bitter finish. Great showcase of the Simcoe, which would seem to be the point.
