Hazy orangey amber with a creamy beige head that lingers well and leaves thick sheets of lace. Aroma of evergreen forest - piney with earthy and light herbal notes - along with some caramel and toasty malts. Flavor is superb, rich caramel and fruity malt notes quickly give way to brash and resiny hops, again with earthy notes, grapefruit rind and just a bit of white pepper. Medium to full body, tingly carbonation. This Simcoe version of the single hopped Mikkeller IPA’s is by far my favorite of those I’ve been fortunate enough to try - yummy!

Dec 22, 2009 In the bottle from City Liquor in South Bend. Very nice beer. Cloudy amber with a thick yellow-beige head. Nice pine and grass aroma. Delicious balanced flavor that was not grapefruity, but rather had dominant notes of pineapple and oranges.

Dec 21, 2009 Pours deep hazy amber into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention leaves spots as it recedes to mottle surface. Sweet dark pine aromas. Sharp bitter resin and pine from front to back turning slightly to grapefruit in the lasting finish.

Dec 19, 2009 Cloudy orange, long lasting large off-white head, excellent lacing.
Aroma is of, well, lots of Simcoe hops, oranges and grapefruits, pine with some light alcohol.
Flavour is nicly hopped, lots of citrus and pine, chewy with a moderate bitterness.
Hoppy mouth, med body, med/high carb.
Finishes very long and Hoppy.
Just when you think that this will finish quick and watery, a huge hoppy bitterness takes over. An excellent IPA.

Opened on August 3, 2009.

Dec 18, 2009 Bottle: Pale orangish amber in color, large frothy off-white head, spotty lacing, tangy citrus zest on the nose. Nice combination of citrusy bitterness on the tongue. Feels livley, bubbley, like champagne. This one I would sun up as being very tangy. Sweet bitterness on the finish. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Sweet citrusy finish, moderate malt body. Not overly bitter. This one was real pleasent, great IPA. Simple, clean, flavorful, and a joy to drink. Not light, not heavy, just solid.

Dec 16, 2009 Bottle at home. Pours a cloudy dark orange color with a huge persistent head of cream-white foam that laces nicely. The aroma is moderately sweet bready malts with fruity notes (oranges, pineapples and passionfruit) and a perfume-like fresh pine hop presence. Flavors are similar with a decent satisfying dry hop bitterness at the end. Medium to full bodied with a smooth easy drinking mouthfeel. Certainly a very classy beer.

Dec 14, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham, NC. Pours a brownish orange color, hazy with large floating particles. Medium creamy white head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is typical SImcoe hops... earthy and herbal with lots of fruit notes including mango, citrus and peach. Taste is bitter hops with tropical fruit notes with a bit of maltiness in the background. Medium bodied.

Dec 7, 2009 Bottle. Pale yellow, a bit cloudy liquid with a rather large, white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of citrus, bitter herbs and some detergent. Taste balances between a fruity hop note and a belgian note with a hint of urinal. Finish is almost a bit roasted with some candy notes and a nice bitterness. A bit one-sided, but not bad.

Dec 7, 2009 Bottle at Brouhaha. The color is honey with a thick beige head and lace. The aroma is of simcoe hops and also veggies. The taste also of that great hop and some sweetness with the finish of a great I.P.A. that good bitterness.
