Aroma of grassy hops and chicken broth. Grassy hop flavor, but not much else going on here. The cascade and simcoe versions were definitely better. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Medium body, lightly sweet caramel. Dry and lightly bitter finish with a somewhat astringent bitterness. 170509 JoeinUccle (911), Brussels, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2009 Interesting for sure: Danish brewers at a Belgian brewery making essentially American craft beer. Bottle pours a hazy red-orange with white fluffy head. Nose like naval orange zest with some floral aspects. Tastes bitter but not overwhelmingly so, at first. More orange zest in the backdrop. Bitterness quickly coats the tongue... Pretty damned nice-smelling but maybe to bitter after a few sips to be very drinkable. alexsdad06 (1106), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2009 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange color with a large fluffy off white head that left thick lacing. The aroma is fresh citrus and pine hops with a slight amount of sweet malt present. The flavor leans more toward the pine side of the spectrum. Grapefruit rind and a touch of herbs is also there. There is not much of a malt presence at all. The finish is bitter and lasts for some time. Medium bodied but the bitterness takes away from the mouthfeel of this. The Simcoe is much easier to drink. BeerBunker (617), Burbank, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2009 Bottle from Orland Park Binnys. Pours hazy orange with a foamy white head. Heavy carbonation. Aroma is of hops, citrus, pine, and caramel malt. Taste is of juicy hops, citrus, pine, and some tropical fruit flavors. That was unexpected. Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated and slightly oily. Lingering fruity sweetness and citrus. The hops aren’t overly bitter, but they do blend well and make it a good drinking experience. Good, but not much of an IPA. beerbill (1976), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2009 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a very hazy antique gold with a large off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left lots of patchy lace. Very pleasant aroma of fresh grapefruit. The flavor is more pine than grapefruit along with a bit of black pepper, especially towards the finish. Harsh bitterness at the finish along with some heat, which lingers in the back of the throat for at least thirty seconds after the swallow before finally subsiding. I ended up with a good case of heartburn after consuming about two-thirds of the glass. An interesting beer to try, but not something I would look to revisit. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 28, 2009 Pours a nice red orange with a a two finger creamy head. The nose has a mild subdued hop character, mix of citrus and herbal elements, more delicate than some, nice smell overall. Flavor is nice, sweet hoppiness, decent flavoring hop, nice bitterness, mild astringency, more citrusy in flavor. Definitely use in conjunction. Tasty. MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
