Aroma is citrus, mainly orange and grapefruit, and a bit of hoppiness. Flavor has a slight bitterness with a fruity citrus background. My favorite of the single hops. fonefan (11822), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2009 Pours pinkish copper with bubbly off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma of apricot, peach, pear, grapefruit zest, and some nice earthy/biscuity notes. Flavor has some nice subtle fruity notes with a bitter finish, but definitely lacks in comparison to the simcoe single. Light grapefruit and slight tropical fruit notes, a bit of caramel in the middle, and pithy bitter finish. Nice dry finish with a medium-to-light body. This was a pretty solid IPA, but it lacked the freshness of its cousin made with simcoe hops. Not much to say about this one, for me. ratman197 (3250), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2009 11.2oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. I’ve hesitated to buy from this pricy series but couldn’t resist pulling the trigger on a warmish day. Nice orange-ish pour, vaguely cloudy, and with a pert carbonation that leaves a modest prickly head. Nose is dry and grassy, with plenty of soft orange notes (some rind too) in there. Nose is more interesting than the flavor, though not by a huge margin. Full mouthfeel lets the flavors play on the palate nicely, with some of the bitters tending to overwrite the floral, citric flavors, though that’s certainly not inconsistent with the hopping. Pretty solid IPA, but probably not something I’ll go out of my way to sample again. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | May 3, 2009 bottle with plenty of visible sediment on the bottom.
Gentle pour still yields a nice thick inch of off white head on top of a hazy middling orange color brew. Head sticks around very well and produces tons of lace. Interesting citrus nose- only slightly bitter aroma of semi-sweet oranges, tangerines and some faint grapefruit. Flavor follows the nose nicely; mild bitterness mostly on the front end, spicy oranges, various blended citrus flavors, sharp tangy grapefruit. Very interesting hop profile. Little if any malt body or sweetness- entirely hop-forward. Only area that suffers is the palate- too much carbonation mixes with the aggressive hop profile to create a somewhat abrasive mouthfeel. Full and clean flavor mostly makes up for the carbonation, creating only a minor detraction. Finish is fine and clean. Overall- a superbly well brewed and interesting IPA. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2009 Bottle thanks to mes, at mes’s gaff. Alround rating: Loads of orangy tangarine fruityness, some almonds going on, pine, some baked bean strangeness too. Its like a very hoppy german bock, hence the baked beans.
