The Dan Journal #285. Tasted 8/21/09. Third of five of the Mikkeller Single Hop beers. Mild and faint grapefruit aromas. Toasty caramel malts. Medium bodied with a bitter and tart palate. Dry finish. Hops are earthy and fruity. This was my second favorite of the bunch.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!)
Poured a murky darker orange-brown body with a big thick off white head that stayed for a while (doubt it listened though). A herbal agrumey earthy, maybe kinda piney aroma hop nose with some sweet maltiness. The taste is dominated by a huge bitterness, kinda crude and going into coffee territory at times. Up front too. Agrumey, sweetish notes + some pine. A lasting bitter aftertaste, kinda crude again. Tasty in a way and interesting but hardly groundbreaking. Interesting hop, that Warrior.

From a bottle poured brown with a good amount of head. Nice strong hoppy flavor with a lasting finish.

Bottle @ Hashigo Zake tasting. Sweetish, dry aroma. Very bitter flavour. Slightly buscuty with sediment added.

Chunky yeast clumps form at the base of the glass. Orange-amber color and predictably cloudy. Superb frothy lace on the glass. Good starting head--settles to a single centimeter thick. Creamy aroma and mild flowery hop nose. The taste is harsh--lots of bittering hop. Comes across as a single flavor, like a symphony of one note. The body is as expected. Overall, it’s a one-trick pony of a beer. It’s tasty but simple.

Pours orange. Nose is pineapple, grapefruit, pine and caramel. Flavor is sweet pineapple, ripe grapefruit, soft bitterness and resiny pine mixed with sweet malt.

Bottle at the beer bistro. Dark hazy amber pour, with huge frothy tight head, with a loads of sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is ALL grapefruit hops, and the flavor is bitter, and at the same time very sweet, and again, just loaded with grapefruit , a great IPA.

Courtesy of Blazer06. Pours copper with gold edges and thin white head. The aroma is hoppy with spice first and then earthiness, a bit of resin and a dash of grass. The taste is much the same with earthy to spicy hops to start and then moving into resin hop bitterness with a brief citrus hop note. It ends with the addition of some malts and a moment of graininess.
