Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Pours a hazy orange, nice head and good carbonation. Has aromas of peaches, summer fruits, tangerines, slightly floral. Good lemony citrus burst in the flavour with underlying malts. Finishes atypically hop heavy with a smooth bitter finish.

Characteristically stylish single-hop experimental IPA from Mikkeller. Geez, they make great brewing seem effortless. I haven’t had a mediocre beer from them - all have been miles above the average for the style. This one was a cloudy orange with an extravagant beige head. Gloriously fresh-smelling - passionfruit, grapes, tinned peaches and muted malts. Creamy body. Caramalt toffees and juicy peaches at the front of the palate. Lovely malt mix - Munich, pilsner, caramalt carry through to a rasping, needle-sharp finish. Lovely big slap of IBUs. Mouth-tingling intensity. ( 33cl bottle from Platinum Liquor. BB Dec 2010)

330ml bottle, hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a fluffy white-beige head, leaving a curtain of lacing, yeasty, bready dough, light ripe apple, floral hop cedary, piney nose, with some hints of toasted, caramel malt notes, with some apricot, light citrus, lemon peel accents, with a hint of leafinessin the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, faint citrusy, earthy flowery hop leafy character, with a mild, light piney, resinous accent, leading towards a citrusy, resiny, faint minty, leafy hop bitterness finish.

Bottle. Interesting experiment with these single hop IPA´s, this one doesn´t remind you a lot of a typical IPA. Red brown with little off white head. Aroma a quite strange hopp note. Taste mainly bitter, not much malts. Biting.

Pours a cloudy dark copper with a large almost white head. The head is chunky and soapy, with some stringy lacing left in its wake. A glorious aroma of fresh hops...citrus and fruit mixed in with some bready malt, and a dirty floral character. The flavor is sweet and zesty citrus, with a slow bitter finish. Very well balanced. Rich, full, mouthfeel with light carbonation.

My Bottom Line:
Rose water infusions and coniferous resins colour this effervescent IPA, ending up in a pleasantly multifaceted bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam stays atop the cloudy and dull orangey amber.
-Again, the malt presence is very linear in this single hop IPAs, offering but a few caramel flavors, but that is probably exactly what Mikkel wanted in order for the hops to really shine through.
-That fluffy effervescence might be a little too much for what I like in the style.
-I found this IPA to have a more discerning character than the Cascade, which I had side-by-side, but then again that might because I am used to Cascade in a lot of beers.

Bottle.

[2454-20090816] 11.2floz bottle. Hoppy grainy earth and grass aroma with some sweaty cooking oil hints. Hazy, dark orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Toasted hop flowers flavour has some roasted bread crumbs and a long grainy finish. Medium-full body is bitter and rough. Tons of bitter grainy hops but a little too rough.

Bottle… Clear orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Fruity aroma with a good bit of leather as well. Full-bodied with tingly carbonation. Much like the aroma, the flavor is also fruity, but mainly bitter and just a touch salty. Medium bitter finish. Thanks to growler for sharing this bottle!
