Dark hazy amber pour, with huge frothy tight head, with a loads of sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is ALL grapefruit hops, and the flavor is bitter, and at the same time very sweet, and again, just loaded with grapefruit , a great IPA. mto (51), helsinki, Finland

It poured a medium dark orange colour with a huge white foamy head that sletted down slowly in the glass. The aroma is fruity and hoppy with notes of grapefruit, kiwi, mango and melon. The flavour is bitter with notes of mango, grapefruit, kiwi and hops. It has a long, lingering aftertaste.
A very nice IPA indeed. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | May 3, 2009 bottle with plenty of visible sediment on the bottom.
Gentle pour still yields a nice thick inch of off white head on top of a hazy middling orange color brew. Head sticks around very well and produces tons of lace. Interesting citrus nose- only slightly bitter aroma of semi-sweet oranges, tangerines and some faint grapefruit. Flavor follows the nose nicely; mild bitterness mostly on the front end, spicy oranges, various blended citrus flavors, sharp tangy grapefruit. Very interesting hop profile. Little if any malt body or sweetness- entirely hop-forward. Only area that suffers is the palate- too much carbonation mixes with the aggressive hop profile to create a somewhat abrasive mouthfeel. Full and clean flavor mostly makes up for the carbonation, creating only a minor detraction. Finish is fine and clean. Overall- a superbly well brewed and interesting IPA. Aroma of sweet citrus fruits. Flavor of bitter hop oils and some citrus and lemony hops in the finish. Quite tasty and similar to Simcoe, actually, perhaps with a little more hop bitterness (but maybe this is a fresher bottle?). In any case, very enjoyable!

Update 4/15/09: Had another bottle of this. Tasted a little fruitier to me in the initial sips, followed by hoppy bitterness, and orange rind and citrus in the finish. Almost a corn-like maltiness. Wow, this is just luscious! It’s so delicious, I’ve got to up the rating!

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 17, 2009 The Sly Fox in Pennsylvania is doing the same thing, making all these pale ales with just a single hop. It’s a real pleasure to sample another brewery’s offering who is doing virtually the same thing. This single hopped IPA is fantastic! The beer pours a hazy orange color with a huge and thick off-white head. There is a substantial amount of lacing left around the glass as well. The nose is full of pine, grass, orange peel, earth and of course some sticky hops. The body is smooth and enjoyable and features an extremely hoppy character. There are also definitive notes of pine, grass and grapefruit. The finish is quite bitter and dry, just the say a good IPA should be. And this is a really good one! Sigmund (2300), Hafrsfjord, Norway
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 11, 2009 Updated: Oct 15, 2009330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Some sediment in the bottle. Deep golden to orange colour, slightly hazy. Big and lasting off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Warrior hops, not quite as strong hop aroma as in the Cascade Single Hop IPA, but nice, with some complexity. Notes of various fruits (incl. citrus) and mild spices. The flavour lets first some cara-crystal malts come through with a moderate sweetness, then the hops take over with notes of citrus, herbs, spices and some resin. A firm and peppery bitterness in the finish, but not overdone. I’d say this is a fairly well balanced IPA, and it has certainly made me interested in using the Warrior hop variety in homebrew. This poured hazy amber which really was the case for all of them but with a white fluffy head. Aroma initially a little subdued but it started to warm up and became very pleasant and fruity with some light grapefruit, it was never going to compete with the sexy Sauvin but it was very good. Touch of toffee along with a crisp citric bitterness. This has a real workmanlike quality to it but its damn tasty and drinkable and for all that raved about the Nelson Sauvin, I finished this one first, wonderful stuff. A8 A4 F8 P4 Ov17 4.1
