Nice bitter hoppy flavour although not so differentiated as ususal for Mikkeller. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of rich caramel malt, resinous, piney hops, grapefruit kicking in late also. Flavor continues to be very piney, woodsy, needly with big caramel, heavily toasted graham cracker malt. Seems more like a hoppy ASA or rich IPA to me! Still tasty, bold yet balanced. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2009 Rating #1100!! And appropriate, considering it’s also Memorial Day! Anyway, pours a cloudy brown/orange with a thick off-white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of tropical fruits and floral hops. Smells like an IPA, an awesome IPA at that! Flavor is not a fruity but has a nice bitter finish. Definitely quite hoppy with some sweet caramel malt. Nothing Belgian about this one to me. This is a great beer--I really enjoyed this one!

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 24, 2009 I was really excited to try this after loving the It’s Alive, but this one is not nearly as good - the strong, spicy american hops take over, and drown out the other nuances of the beer - the nose is almost straight up american-style ipa, reminding me very much of a SN Harvest I drank earlier today - there is a slight wild character in the background, but it seems almost out of place - the flavor is quite the same - herbal, spicy american hops, with some semi-sweet caramel-ish maltiness and some ambiguous fruitiness (again, reminding me of SN Harvest) - after this, a lightly acidic tang develops, and some wild character finally becomes apparent - the finish is where things finally come together, as a flinty dryness develops that works well with the bitter hops - perhaps with some age, the brett will dry this out more, and it will improve - however, right now it comes across more like an infected ipa than a wild belgian - there is still something satisfying about it, though. bierkoning (6071), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2009 Corked bottle. Dark amber color. Grapefruit, red berries and some leather in the aroma. Malty flavor, with flowery hops and cabbage. Walnut bitterness. leather. Bretty. Moderately sour. The bitterness is a bit annoying and spoils the tasting pleasure a bit. Alcohol. This beer could be so much better. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Quite hoppy and tart aroma - resin, pineapple, peach, grapefruit. Nectar like sweetness balanced by hops. Sticky and chewy flavor, lackluster malt profile. Bitter and single-tracked finish. Fine carbonation, not too bad. jbrus (4882), Delft, Netherlands
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2009 Bottle@Home. Leather and grapefruit aroma. Amber colour, beige head, good lace. Light malty, very bitter, grapefruit, grassy, orange peels. Hop dry mouth feel. Powerful, bit over the edge, well brewed but I’m no fan of Brett. treadyroc (112), St. Leonard, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2009 Pours a cloudy golden amber with a 2-finger head that settles to one with good lacing. Aroma is of flowery hops - a nice addition. Exactly how I’d picture a flowery hop American-style IPA from the Mikkeller guys. Very clean all the way through & finishes with a hit of bitterness that doesn’t stick around. I love flowery hop beers, so this one’s right up my alley.
