Some soapy lacing. Aroma has some orange-like sweetness up front, some hemp notes, brett. Malt has some nutty qualities, earthy, woody, grapefruit and floral hop flavours. Medium bitter finish, lasting grapefruit hops aftertaste. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Great mix of bitterness and brett, which to me equals a dangerously drinkable, and no sign of the 8% alcohol.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 27, 2009 I get a lot of strong acidic hops in the nose, I like just a bit (or tons and tons!) more cascade though. Creamy dark brown looking, it somehow manages to be light and clear around the edges and dark and smokey looking in the middle. Great lacing. Strong, strong hop flavour, only later on does the malt and belgan yeast really set in. So many things going on on paper, its almost overload in your mouth. Well balanced for so many extreme flavours. gunnfryd (3615), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at my Mums on Christmas Day. Excellent clean copper colour with a good lasting white head. Lots of tangerine hop in the aroma with some sherbet and earthy malt in the background. Strange meaty and fatty feel to it. Very perfumed, slightly sugary and a reasonable bitterness in the finish. Rather dull and basic for a Mikkeller beer. Not bad but they’re capable of SO much better. BoBoChamp (1423), Gent, Belgium

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2009 It’s war orange-golden, slightly hazy and with lively pearls rising. The hear is creamy. The aroma has notes of fruit, citrus and a refreshing sourness. The flavor is hoppy and fruity with notes of citrus and a refreshing sourness, a nice bitterness and the overall impression is a refreshing beer nice with or without food. I do not really notice the Brett. BeerChaser0078 (374), Melbourne, Australia
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy brownish amber with a large, fluffy beige head that lasts ages with plenty of lace. Hoppy aroma has notes of toffee, pine, lemon, grapefruit with a hint of brett funkiness. Flavour is also hoppy but is just as malty with notes of caramel, citrus, pine, tropical fruit, nuts and brett. Medium body with a moderate amount of prickly carbonation and a long, bitter, almost sour finish. I agree that this seems more like an American than a Belgian strong ale, although there is a definite Belgian slant, but either way this is a great beer and another highly successful experiment from Mikkeller. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Big bottle, shared over the year’s first Thursday night football game. Pours a very hazy orange-brown with a big, long-lasting golden head. Aromas of nutty toffee and sweet grapefruit, with a little funk. Surprisingly toasty malt flavours with a sweet and spicy resinous hop character, loads of grapefruit, with a very bitter finish that has some herbal qualities in a medicinal way. Toastier than I was expecting, with more American IPA than belgian ale in my mind, but certainly an interesting marriage! deyholla (739), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
