chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England May 27, 2008 Draught at Kobehavnske Oldage, May 2006. Orange/ginger colour. This is a big beer in every way. I would expect nothing else from Mikkeller. But it is not one of my favourite Mikkeller brews. Big whack of fruity hops in the aroma, leading to a very bitter and sharp hoppy character in the flavour. The malts come through very strongly also but it is rather sweet and accompanied by a powerful alcohol burn on the finish. Lots in here but I didn’t think the elements combined perfectly and I found the overall effect rather brash, even very slightly crude. Still pretty good, but not great.
ChristianScheffel (2250), Odense, Denmark Dec 19, 2006 Orange beer with a lasting tan head. Fruity aroma - dried fruits, some hops, some roses, some wine. Relatively bitter flavour with some alcohol. Overwhelming full body, and a long asting aftertaste. MPA (424), Nørrebro(formerly Aalborg), Denmark Dec 4, 2006 Reddish with a light beige head. Sweet aroma with alcohol, figs, raisin (hell) and caramel. Flavour is sweet and powerful with fruit and raisins. Great beer once again from Mikkeller. duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jul 31, 2006 Draught@Københavnske Øldage. These guys are definitely doing some great stuff with beer, there is no doubt about that. This was heavy and sweet, very sweet. Loads of sticky sweet, piney(pine needles), grapefruity characters, with some caramelly malt notes. Warming alcohol in the finish. Upon reflection, my rating may be a little harsh, but at the time i thought this was a little too much for me, and, yes, perhaps its not my favourite style. anders37 (2752), Malmö, Sweden Jun 18, 2006 Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2006. Pours an amber colour with an off-white head. Sweet and lovely hoppy aroma. Sweet malty flavor with lots of hops and dark fruits. Has a long dry warming finish. A lvely barley wine.
