| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 23, 2006 Courtesy of Pailhead. Bright copper with ring of bubbles. Decent aroma up front of caramel/toffee and some faint fruity esters. Flavor on the other hand is very cardboard like with tons of alcohol in the finish. Body is a tad thin. Rather dissapointed. beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Strong malt flavour with a hoppy finish. I enjoyed this beer despite that i found the taste of alcohol a bit too strong, but its 11 percent so that shouldnt come as a surprise. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Buttery maris otter and light stemmy hops and alcohol in the aroma. Big caramel/chocolate English malts (MO?) in the flavor with a bit-too-hot alcohol and leafy hop at the end. An enjoyable BW but nothing remarkable. Pailhead (2597), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Aroma is loaded with lots of malt with lots of caramel and chocolate with some subtle hoppiness, light fruit, and hints of alcohol. Pours a transparent amber with a small off-white head. Moderate caramel and chocolate up front. Huge alcohol finish with stale hop presence. Alcohol is too dominant and really makes the finish rather harsh. pintbypint (1010), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Poured deep amber with a sparse layer of off white bubbles on the surface. Very faint haze. Sweet malt nose, brown sugar, faint hops. Flavour starts with a lot of sweet caramel malt with fruity and chocolate notes. Hop bitterness in the finish with alcohol lingering and warming the throat. Full body with very gentle carbonation. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2006 Bottle 2005 courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a slightly hazy deep amber color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of sweet malt with some dry figs and raisins. Taste is quite sweet, maybe a bit too much for my liking, with some discernable trace of dry fruits with a small alcohol touch at the end. Body is above average but could have been more full. Alcohol is still well hidden for such a high-level of alcohol. Without being ultra complex, this is a well balance barley wine that I would drink again if it were available to me.
