Commercial Description:
We produce a traditional styled Irish Stout that is served using beer gas to produce that familiar creamy pour. Our black stout has a roasted malt flavour and a hint of toasted walnuts and choclate in the finish. Select imported hops are used to dry out the finish of this ale.

In short: An ultra boring light stout
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Very dark brown body topped by a long-lasting large beige head
In long: Basic dark malts, watery chocolate flavour, light airy body, some hazelnuts, hops cruelly missing in action, not tasty at all. This is in the league of a commercial nitro “black beer” like Guiness and others. A very awkward beer, Mill Street Cumbersome Stout.

At Brewpub. Nitro pour. Black with off-white head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, vanilla. Really roasty with a creamy nitro mouthfeel. Shame about the nitro because it kills a lot of the roastiness that is obviously there but it’s still smooth and solid and quaffable and retains its gentle licorice sweetness.

Objectively speaking: A simple and surprisingly hoppy session stout.
I like: Pleasant chocolatey roastiness. Dry flavour profile growing a certain hazelnut skin tang. Milky, gently lactic acidity yet feeling clean all along.
I dislike: Highly carbonated for a stout, giving it a light metallic touch. Not particularly complex nor memorable.

nitro at brewery. creamy and fine, with some decent and muted roasted coffee/chocolate flavors. This beer is not as nice as the coffee porter, and its very hard not to compare the two. The flavors here are not as profound or memorable, and the porter is your best bet.

Opaque black pour iwth a foamy tan head. Nice thick head at that. Bready thick taste, lots of roasted flavours (roasted nuts, roasted caramel, etc). Very dry finish. A good stout, but I’m not a huge fan of stouts.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark-brownish black with a thick dark beige head that has very good retention. This is a benchmark dry stout. Thick silky palate with a strong roasted coffee flavor that matches the serious roasted malt aroma. I’m surprised this is indicated here as a seasonal autumn beer, as I had it in the spring and the bartender said it is always on tap.

On tap at Kickoff. Black with a creamy tan head. Bubbles go down right after pouring. Aroma has mustiness and roasted malts. Cigarettes and coffee. Slight booze quality. Flavour is somewhat light. Burnt flavours dominate. The hops are apparent as well. Dry, coffee aftertaste. Slightly watery.
