patricks110 (276), Alberta, Canada Nov 5, 2009 I was expecting more. The aroma is like a hot cup of coffee, but the taste is like porter with some coffee poured into it. Pour is black with a medium tan head. Taste is malty with a bit of bitter coffee. I like it, but it could be better. stantheman (14), British Columbia, Canada Oct 24, 2009 Yes, it tastes like coffee and beer at the same time, but it lack complexity. cfrancis (293), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada Oct 23, 2009 This beer is lost on me. As I’m not a coffee drinker. But it was in the sampler pack and I hate seeing beer go to waste. Aroma is intense ground coffee. I do enjoy the smell of coffee and I just sat and enjoyed the aroma for a while. Taste is not as much coffee that I was expecting. It is somewhat subdued. There is more chocolate and malt which made drinking it palpable to me. thepegjett (92), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 22, 2009 A - Caramel and roasted coffee.
A - Very dark.
F - Definite coffee flavor, but not as full as one might hope.
P - Smooth
O - It’s an average Porter. rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 30, 2009 On tap at the brewery, dark brown color, with a tan-colored head, mild toasted, caramelized, roasted malt nose, with some dark coffee, black chocolate accents, and some burnt toast, cocoa powder, faint molasses notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice caramelized, roasted malt, toffee, black coffee character, with some mochaish, faint espresso coffee, dark chocolate flavors, with a hint of burnt dark dried fruits, leading towards a coffee, chocolatey, faint roasted bitterness finish. Strangebrewer (208), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2009 bottle. Poured opaque almost black with a large tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted dates and bitter chocolate. Thin flat mouthfeel. Full flavour as it smells, smokey, coffee, bitter cocao. Bitter porter aftertaste and a bit acidic. Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2009 Pours from the bottle a deep black with a low, tan, dense head that quickly fades away. Aroma has a pretty rich roasted note with coffee, espresso, caramel, a deep modest sweet/bitter chocolate note and a light raisin fruitiness towards the end. Flavor has a very biting cold coffee note but a dark chocolate bitterness seems to lessen the effect of the coffee and smooth it out. Light dark fruitiness, some light vanilla notes at the end and provides a slight dryness as well. Moderate density, smooth fine carbonation and some very light lacing rounds out this brew. Normally coffee brews I am not to keen on but this one was very well balanced creating a smooth coffee flavor. Very good brew. Big thick beer this was tasty. I was very surprised this beer really had some great flavors. Loved the coffee. Great beer once again.
