Commercial Description:
Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

Bottle, from trade with radiomg. Good aroma, roasty sweet. Coffee (duh) little nutty, mealy, yeasty. A viney, red wine scent, little creme. Brownish black color, good head that slowly went to a ring. Bitter flavor, like aroma with coffee and viney being the most prevelent. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Nice easy to drink coffee porterthanks radiomg

Pours an absolute pitch black, with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma of dark malts and day-old used coffee filters. Excellent coffee flavour, with some dark malting but not enough. Some hops. Lightly carbonated with a thinnish body and a thicker finish. There’s no chocolate in this, for a change, but I like it all the same, and the fact that it’s local is promising. Mill street has caught my attention with this pleasant brew!

Bottle from Blankboy and crew. Six months later at the Hall of Justice this is opened. Deepest brown color, approaching black. Nice light beige head lingers for a bit and fades to a layer and ring. Fair lacing. Coffee aroma, some chocolate. Medium bodied, somewhat creamy texture which is pleasant. Definate coffee flavor, not too astringent or bitter. Chocolate enhances the coffee presence. Pretty tasty beer!

From a 355 ml. bottle with a blurb on the back label, no freshness date. Poured a deep black coffee brown with a foamy, creamy tan head, small amount ringed sticking. Aromas of freshly roasted dark coffee, a very subtle chocolate and a bit of charcoal. Good moderate carbonation and a crisp, smooth medium-full bodied mouthfeel. Tastes of very dark roasted coffee, hints of burnt chocolate that adds a bit of sweetness, a very light fruitiness towards the end and some mild hop bitterness and a dry roasted malty finish. Not a bad coffee porter, the bitterness doesn’t come from the coffee which is a plus to me, easy, smooth drinkability, but I wouldn’t want more than a couple of this porter in one sitting. Acquired in a trade with Sammy, thanks!

33cl bottle, Shelburne. Dark chocolatey black colour, thin beige head. Not surprisingly coffee aroma, with some cola and chocolate as well. Thin tight carbonation, some burnt malt, chocolate flavour, smooth finish. Decent but more interesting porters out there.

355 mL bottle from LCBO. App.: very dark black-brown with a moderate light mocha, red-hued head. Aroma: plenty of coffee and dark chocolate, roasted malts. Palate: med.-low carbonation, a bit thinner than expected, slightly powdery. Flav.: coffee mainly with a bit of dark chocolate/cocoa powder, a faint tartness and just a hint of bitterness to finish. Dry and a bit lacking in depth.

12 ounce bottle from BBB63. Pours very dark brown with a tightly formed and lasting light brown head. Lots of rich mocha aroma. The flavor is completly over run with coffee. Sort of a watery mouthfeel. Interesting, but nothing worth raving about. Thanks Mike.

Terrific, strong coffee aroma. Very rich in flavour. I was surprised at just how much the coffee flavour there is, but it seems to work. Very dark in colour. Nice stuff.
