Commercial Description:
Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

Good one, veyr dark, and good coffee smell. I have to say I do not like Coffee but these kind of beers are good to smell and have. Good brown alike foam and nice aftertaste.

Bottle from LCBO Rideau-King Edward in Ottawa. As black as it gets with a medium mocha head. Aroma of coffee, spices and roasted malts. Taste is strong coffee, roasted malts, tobacco and spices with a medium body. Good coffee porter.

The darkest beer with the darkest head I’ve ever seen. Smells of coffee and . . . yeast? Dough? Something. Roasted malt and coffee dominates the taste, along with a bit of dark chocolate semi-sweetness. Slightly bitter finish. Not your everyday beer, but it’s nice after a big supper.

Bottle from HogTownHarry; Coffee, coffee, more coffee, and some light bits of roasty smokiness showed in the nose; transparent dark brown with a small tan head; very heavy coffee flavorwith some mild hop bitterness that lasted into the finish.

Body is black with a nice mocha head. Aroma is definte coffee like Bells Java, just like black coffee, no cream, maybe a slight vanilla note. Taste is straight black coffee again, with a bit of dark chocolate. Simple, but a very well made porter.

bottle: Poured a dark brown/tan colour with a creamy mocha head. Coffee, caramel, and chocolate dominated the aroma. This beer had lots of flavour, but it was not well balanced or very drinkable. The initial taste is of roasted coffee with chocolate and nutty flavourings. This wasn’t bad, however, the aftertaste was simply horrible. It actually felt like coffee grinds creeping back up my throat and filling my mouth the taste of a cold Irish coffee. It brought back haunting memories of cramming for exams with a pot of coffee and a bottle of Bailey’s liquer. I’m not a fan of this one. Not for me. I was tempted to dump it down the sink but stuck it out. The flavours intensify as it warms which is not a good thing in this case. Furthermore, this damn beer kept me up all night with heartburn. I felt like I ate a bag of espresso beans. Completely f@#ked my golf game the next day! Bastards!
