Commercial Description:
Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

nearly black pour with a tan head that quickly fades. aroma of fresh whole coffee beans, creamy chocolate, roasty grain and a light woody sourness/bitterness. flavor is the same with a nice woodiness and astringency. the finish is slightly sour and dry with coffee lingering in the aftertaste. thin to medium bodied. prickly carbonation/mouth feel develops into creaminess as it warms.

Bottle at HogTownHarry Fest ’08. Black with thin tan head. Coffee, lots of coffee. Slightly congealed in mouth, some hop. Smooth. Bit of milky coffee.

A Sim rate (bottle at ChrisO’s): Espresso, caramel and seriously sweet creamy aroma. Nice dark colour, but disappointing in the head and lace department. Flavour is very nutty, but none of the coffee really comes through. Swift, dark chocolate finish.

Foam Rangers January meeting. Once again, roasted malts and coffee aromas. Flavor is not as rich as the the nose...and has a very soft finish.

Bottle, 5.5%. Roasted and bitter coffee aroma. Very dark brown colour with a red shine. Small brown head. The flavour has some coffee and a hint of sour cardboard. Late bitterness, like coffee and chocolate.

341 ml bottle thanks to my Secret Festivus partner. Pours a very dark brown that allows a deep ruby red glow to come through when held against the sun. Moderate bubbly tan head that disappeared after the first sip. The aroma of fresh coffee was noticed immediately when I opened the bottle. Some roasted malt in the aroma as well. The coffee is less noticeable in the flavor and is supplimented with some tobacco and roasted malt. Some coffee bitterness at the finish, which is where the coffee flavor is most noticeable. Medium bodied. As a side note, nice bottle design; has a throw-back look to it.

Bottle thanks to my festivus master: Pours a dark brown with a tiny tan head. Aroma, big coffee nose with some fruits, chocolate and roasted notes. Flavor, buttery, some coffee, chocolate, fruity notes, roasted bitterness on the end.

Nice porter. Slightly thin mouthfeel but the taste makes up for it. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Taste is heavy on the coffee and chocolate. I could definitely drink this again! Thanks HogTownHarry
