Respectably solid malty-feeling body, Aroma slightly yeasty a bit sweet-malty and there is a trace hops. A little spicy and fruity, warming alcohol, small bitter hop finish. Noticeable raw grainy or wort-like quality, and there’s not much complexity. A few gulps in this Bock is two-dimensional & not really differentiated from many MS beers. ** RE-RATE NOTES ** much more smoothed out with a fatter pale-malt fruity body, fine edge of bitter hops, and slight feel of alcohol, it’s been re-vamped and getting better. Liquid bread aromas. Some apples and strawberries. Clean, quaffable, low carbonation. Solid malts but and bread crusts eliminate sugars. Fruity, nice degree of complexity. Strength noticeable but has no offensive alcohol overtones. No harshness and very smooth. Good pocket of bockness. PaulHegedus (467), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada

This one’s golden orange in the glass, with bready aromas, caramel. I taste caramel with interesting subtle grassiness. mabel (2612), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Clear, medium orange body with a quick foamy off-white head. Heavily fruited booze flavour has lots of whiskey malt characteristics and some oak wood notes. Medium body. Interesting as it goes along, but I was also in a particularly sparkling mood...

A rather strong maibock which was available in early August.
I like:
Rather filling, almost rich palate with complete herbal, honeyed and grassy malt undertones. Simple yet effective. Very grainy, but nonetheless fairly fruity, think mandarines, pineapple and mango.
I dislike:
A bit of extra confidence in the hop bite would balance out that heavy sweetness with more elegance.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Orange gold in color with a thin white head. Big caramel aroma. The example that I had was 6.4% ABV. I would call this an "Imperial Straw" flavor. This is very German and very rich. Has a HUGE palate. Caramel and nutty and hop balanced. Seems like there’s way more heat to this than 6.4, so I tend to believe what’s written on this site (7.2). Outstanding! Beer Snob (382), Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2008 At the brew pub mid-sized head with a woody/malty aroma. Malty and a touch of fruit on first sip. Then a bit of hop bitterness to temper the sweetness. Goes down very very smoothly for such a strong brew. Sadly unavailable in bottles on the day...
