Commercial Description:
A pale (Helles in German, orange colour), strong German lager brewed with 100% Organic malt and hops. A great big white head gives way to a sweet maltly note which is quickly followed by the aroma of alcohol. A rich malty flavour with hints of current and oranges is found on the first sip. The hops have a gentle bitterness to balance the malt. The alcohol is not a dominate flavour, but you certainly feel it after a glass or two.

Golden-amber colour. Nice whiskeyish aroma with pale & breadcrusty malts. Firm, toasty, whiskeyish, with a caramelly palate. Medium body, perhaps a touch watery in the finish. Fresh, complex.

Objectively speaking: A rather strong maibock which was available in early August.
I like: Rather filling, almost rich palate with complete herbal, honeyed and grassy malt undertones. Simple yet effective. Very grainy, but nonetheless fairly fruity, think mandarines, pineapple and mango.
I dislike: A bit of extra confidence in the hop bite would balance out that heavy sweetness with more elegance.

Amber beer with a white head. Strong cream corn and caramel aroma. Sweet malt with light lingering bitterness and nuts. Very sweet in finish. Oily mouthfeel. Thanks to Capflu.

Malty aroma, average pale look with a small head and with lace. Hoppy, with a small bitter aftertaste.

Draught. At Volo. Poured deep bright refractive copper with an average frothy head - very attractive. Aroma of roast hard candy malt with some sharp funky moss. Taste of caramel, malt, lots of grain, mild hop bitterness, a touch woody. Mouthfeel very dry, flat - overall a very drinkable fall ale, recommended.

Sweet, with some malt notes. Clean bock. Bright head, light brown look. Some sweet notes, rater lightly roasted malt. Work no malt processing this bock should be much better.

Re-rate January 2005 Golden amber body, smallish white head. Aroma is malty, and just a touch spicey. Flavour is sweet malt superceded by a perplexing layer of spice or white pepper. Palate is medium bodied. I still think this tastes 100% different from the last attempt but the brewer himself says its the same recipe. I seem to be the only one picking these flavours out as well. Perhaps I’m looney tunes!6/3/5/3/13
December 2004 Apparently the same recipe, my bottle tasted totally different. Orange coppey body, with a good sized white head and some lacing. Strange aroma, spicey alcohol with some black pepper and the Colonels 11 herbs and spices. Some floral notes. Sweet malt quickly turns dry with some intriguing spiciness that is not unpleasant but a bit confounding, lingering in the aftertaste. Very smooth medium-full bodied palate. Very interesting, sort of tough to finish. Thanks to JWalker for this bottle. Will have to secure another to compare. 7/3/6/4/16
March 2004 Copper bodied brew with a mediocre white head. Bit of malty alcohol and hints of tofee or caramell in the aroma and throughout the flavour profiles. Nothing wrong with it per se, but nothing to grab me either. A decent quaffable run of the mill bock that was not quite as cool as the home made label Doug Shoemaker prepared. 6/3/6/3/14

15 oz pint at the brewpub. Pours a nice light golden with a thin head. Aroma is slight cleanser, white wine, and some acetaldehyde, also some ok pils bready malts and a light spicy hop. Flavor is ok moderate bready malts, slightoy burnt toast, and more cleanser and white wine solvent- maybe lines were just cleaned? Ok overall but couldnt quite get past the solventy white wine thing.
