Commercial Description:
A pale (Helles in German, orange colour), strong German lager brewed with 100% Organic malt and hops. A great big white head gives way to a sweet maltly note which is quickly followed by the aroma of alcohol. A rich malty flavour with hints of current and oranges is found on the first sip. The hops have a gentle bitterness to balance the malt. The alcohol is not a dominate flavour, but you certainly feel it after a glass or two.

(341ml stubby) Pours a large, white frothy head with a beatiful lacing. I really enjoy the strong characteristics of this beer - aroma of bread, whiskey and pumped caramel; the mid-flavour of hops is preceeded and followed by a macho malt. The finish of lasting bitterness and sweetness is of a perfect balance. A very good rendition of this style... Again, thanks to my brothers for picking this up!

Bottled 2004 edition. This bock is a clear, rich orange-amber color with a nice frothy, rocky cap that laces nicely. Aroma is glorious musty-herbal hallertaus over sweet bready malts...like a Dortmunder on steroids. The taste is very much like a strong Dortmunder..malty to the max ( not too sweet) for a big lager, great balance with herbal hops to stop cloying. Peppery mouth feel and then the finish starts to go dry with the light rye-like malts dropping off and the great blend of german hops thrill the tongue in the after taste with a woodsy-musty rye descernment....I love it!! This is a very good (and drinkable) blonde bock in the helles or more correctly, Dortmunder style. Great offering Mill Street.

At the brew pub mid-sized head with a woody/malty aroma. Malty and a touch of fruit on first sip. Then a bit of hop bitterness to temper the sweetness. Goes down very very smoothly for such a strong brew. Sadly unavailable in bottles on the day...

Vibrant caramel-amber colour with a small white head. Appealing aroma of sweet nutty malt and dark rye bread. More rye in the flavour, along with buttery toffee and anise, and dry, herbal hops in the finish. The end is short at first, but as the beer warms up, the hop notes start to linger, adding much more to the beer. Very nice stuff.

Candied malt aroma, Copper/amber colour, pours a large vanilla custard head, continuous stream of bubbles, gorgeous lace. Rich candied malt flavour at the front, a nutty woodiness in the middle almonds and caramel toffee towards the end. Lovely Belgian mouthfeel, with a pleasing dry finish. Very well crafted. Kudos again, to Michael Duggan!

On tap at the brewpub. Orange gold in color with a thin white head. Big caramel aroma. The example that I had was 6.4% ABV. I would call this an "Imperial Straw" flavor. This is very German and very rich. Has a HUGE palate. Caramel and nutty and hop balanced. Seems like there’s way more heat to this than 6.4, so I tend to believe what’s written on this site (7.2). Outstanding!

On tap, and in Growler, from brewery. Orange/gold in colour, head dissipating quickly. A bit sweet, malty. Bit of an alcohol aroma. Enjoyed it, have another Growler in the fridge for tomorrow!

355 ml bottle from the seasonal mixed 6. pours deep golden with a small white head and minimal carbonation. aroma of apple, pale malt, slightly sweet. the flavour is bang on for the style. big malty lager with barly noticeable hops and some alcohol. mill street nailed this style. its too bad only one beer gets rotated in these 6ers cause both the pils and helles bock are awesome. wish i could buy it in singles.
