Commercial Description:
True IPA’s were high in both alcohol and hops to survive the long hot voyage from Britain to India. This makes it a big and flavour beer style. Our version is no exception. Traditional English malts and hops are used to give this copper brew a big flavour. This beer has a slightly roasted note with a strong hop bitterness and flavour.

On tap at the brewpub. I had both the cask version and the regular version. Regular: Light amber with a white head. Not as good as the tankhouse beer. The hops are a bit more lonesome here in that they stand out unbalanced without complement. Has a fairly quick finish. An OK beer, but not great (score: 2.9). Cask:Pours hazy light brown to dark amber with a big bubbled white head. Has an intense chocolate and butterscotch aroma. Smooth. Very smooth. The tongue is saturated with lemon-lime flavors. Lots of tea flavors to this as well. Has a very drying finish. On cask, this beer is completely transformed. I simply would not recognize the cask vs. keg versions of this beer as being the same.

growler from the brewery. pours amber with a small white head that dissapates quickly but laces the glass nicely. aromas are hoppy and are much more pronounced as the beer warm. flavours are hoppy but not complex. very one dimentional. this is a good beer but its not mill streets best effort. there are better ipas out there.

On tap at Mill St Brewpub. Pours copper in colour, decent amount of white head, leaves a bit of lacing. Nice hoppy aroma, and great bitter finish. Right on style. A great IPA.

I tried this beer on tap on March 20, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer appeared a clear reddish-brown with a thin tight tan coloured head. The aroma was very hoppy with ample floral hoppish notes, some pine, and citrus. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium high carbonation. The flavour had some malt, and a nice balance of grapefruity hops. There was also some acidity in the flavour.

Draught at the Mill St. Brewpub, shared with VeloVampire - copper in appearance with a nice, creamy white head. Smells hop-citrusy with other light fruity notes playing about. Flavour is nicely rounded citrus on top, quite floral and really nice, followed but a significantly long bitter finish. Definitely a good IPA, and judging from the early reviews here, it would seem like they’ve been tweaking and improving the recipe. This was definitely not malty in the least, and quite different from the Tankhouse - less piney, grassy...brighter, with more flowery. Lovely. Put this in bottles, Mill Street Man!

Okay. I had this again at the brewpub, and it was absolutely identical to the Tankhouse Ale. So I don’t know what’s going on...perhaps they accidentally tapped the Tankhouse instead? No idea. But the first time I had it, it was an individual beer, on the way to becoming a great IPA. This time...Tankhouse. What’s up?

On tap at the Castle. Eh, it is what it is. An Ontario IPA. Actually, I kind of liked it. Nice amber colour with the classic floral hoppy IPA aroma. The flavour was nothing bold or unique, just a nicely bitter classic IPA, as I’ve already mentioned. I had this just after a Scotch Irish Corporal Punishment (cask), so I’m surprised my head could tolerate the hops. But it did, and I enjoyed the pint. The only thing it loses points on is the just SLIGHTLY evident alcoholic flavour in the finish, although it was only occasionally apparent. Very decent brew from a brewery which I personally get mixed results from. But huge kudos for continuing to brew an almost ignored style in this province!

Cask@Miil Street Brewery Brewpub, Toronto. Darkish brown/reddish beer with a plainly hopped aroma, and a strongly hopped, roasted and dry flavour. Overall a nice well hopped beer.
