Opaque black and coffeeish topping. Nose is roast and coffee. Way too cold, served at the brewpub. Slightly under average mouthfeel, and sourness and then..sediment. A little lactose, much roast. Carbonation a bit too much, roast and sediment thick and there is real coffee ground here.

Draught. At Mill Street Brewpub. Opaque black, thin looking, with a thick creamy lasting tan head (4-). Served a bit too cold, so mild aroma of light herbal hops, sweetened coffee - roasty with a bit of cream. Taste is similar, but a little fuller - roast coffee, cream, lightly herbal, a hint of mint, oddly strong for <5% - and licorice. Average body, silky, decent (if maybe a bit too much) carbonation, pleasant bitterness in the finish, prevents it from being cloying. Pretty solid.

Jug 1890 ml
Appearance: dark brown brew with light creamy , beige top.
Nose: dry roaster aroma , coffee , roasted barley feel. Good , crisp refreshing nose. 7+
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. Softer follow up. Roasty brown malty , light mineral accents. Thinner front with malty follow up. Light stout.

2009-03-25. Black body with a nice foamy tan head. (4+) Sweetish aroma, pleasant roast malt, that is not quite mocha but I can’t place a more apt descriptor. Very nice. (7+) Bitter roast in the flavour is much more assertive than in the aroma, roughly so. Sweet malt under layer is a bit tangy (lactic?). Smooth average to medium bodied palate is a bit creamy. (3+) Decent but I expected a smoother taste experience after the gentle introduction of the aroma.

Draught at Mill St. Brewpub. Pours black with a small creamy tan head. Good lacing on the glass. Overly mild aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Nice flavour of roasted malt, coffee, light green hops and a roasty, dry bitter finish. Average bodied. Well done, a good Stout.

Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, darkest brown, small cappuccino head. Flavour has coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, woody and nutty. Light bodied, very well balanced, quite bitter, sourish, a real treat. Very good.

[2049-20090325] Tap. Roasted chocolate malt aroma is sweet. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Milk chocolate roasted malt flavour has a long roasted finish. Full body has some rough bitterness. Tasty, and quite aptly named.

On tap at Volo. Black, decent tan head. Sweet aroma, some roast. Taste is decent - almost too sweet, otherwise comparable to their cobblestone. Decent, I always applaud a good take on the stout style in stout starved Ontario.
