On tap from Volo. A nice tall glass of chocolate milk that would go perfectly with my lunch every day! Poured think and creamy. Simple to describe: Chocolate Milk!

Aug 1, 2009 On tap at Volo. My first encounter with a milk stout. Upon inquiry, I was informed that the beer is made with lactose to achieve that creamy milk flavour. I must say that it certainly didn’t disappoint.Creamy mouthfeel led way to a milk chocolate flavour with slightly bittersweet undertones. Congrats to Mill Street for coming up with an interesting beer. Mind you, don’t have too many at a time or you just may upset your stomach.

Jun 1, 2009 [2049-20090325] Tap. Roasted chocolate malt aroma is sweet. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Milk chocolate roasted malt flavour has a long roasted finish. Full body has some rough bitterness. Tasty, and quite aptly named.

May 25, 2009 Appearance: Jet black with a medium yellow head. Aroma, very slight malt, milk, peat with slight chocolate. Flavour: Milky sour, peat, chocolate, smoke, turf, long bitter dry finish.

May 19, 2009 Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, darkest brown, small cappuccino head. Flavour has coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, woody and nutty. Light bodied, very well balanced, quite bitter, sourish, a real treat. Very good.

May 9, 2009 On draft at Volo. Near black in colour with moderate to low carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, red grapes, coffee, and a hint of herbal hops. More of the chocolate + mild roast coffee combo in the mouth, along with notes of vanilla and caramel. The lactic sweetness makes the mouthfeel a bit cloying for my taste.

Apr 28, 2009 Draught at Mill St. Brewpub. Pours black with a small creamy tan head. Good lacing on the glass. Overly mild aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Nice flavour of roasted malt, coffee, light green hops and a roasty, dry bitter finish. Average bodied. Well done, a good Stout.

Apr 16, 2009 Draught. At Mill Street Brewpub. Opaque black, thin looking, with a thick creamy lasting tan head (4-). Served a bit too cold, so mild aroma of light herbal hops, sweetened coffee - roasty with a bit of cream. Taste is similar, but a little fuller - roast coffee, cream, lightly herbal, a hint of mint, oddly strong for <5% - and licorice. Average body, silky, decent (if maybe a bit too much) carbonation, pleasant bitterness in the finish, prevents it from being cloying. Pretty solid.
