garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2009 On tap at Rhino. Appearance: dark orange with a nice off white head. Aroma: grassy, why don’t I like that style of hops? With citrus and malt and a little
wood. Flavour: lots of grass, malt, butter, citrus and a hop finish. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2009 On tap at The Kick Off in Waterloo. Taps a clear copper colour with a medium white head. The aroma really isn’t much, some cereal grains and caramalt, reminiscent of other Mill St. brews, very indistinct. The flavour is very soury-sweet upfront, pure barley met with some caramalt and grainy sweetness. Carbonation is a bit over the top on the mouth-feel. There’s a pretty serious dry hoppy undertone to it all that adds some balance. Nothing particularly stands out or reminds me of other Oktoberfests. Seems like the Stock Ale with some caramalt added. Over-all though an enjoyable pint of a style all too ignored in our province. VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2008 Pint at C’est What - came a clear copper with a short lived white head. Aroma quite sweet, but with a vaguely spicy note, almost rye-like, along with a bit of yeast. Flavour more of the same, but with the addition of a light hop bitterness mid-palate. Nice body, and very drinkable. Solid Oktoberfest. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 14, 2008 Very funky aroma: sea water and ever sewage. Metallic orange with a nice foamy head. Harsh body, somewhat bitter initially with a malty finish. Caramel malts, bread and perhaps some spice. pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Oct 10, 2007 Tapped a amber-orange with a fair cap with moderate retention.
Aroma is light toasted bread crusts over some herbal-woody noble tones.
Medium bodied decent malt spine toasty-woodsy character, creamy mouth feel.
Nice toasty malts in the front, joinded by ample noble balance...deep woody-herbal-toasty tones mid palate...finishes lightly drying with nice Hersbrucker"bite" in the finish and a slow herbal bittering with a bready after taste.
Good malty O-fest...slightly hop biased...very very drinkable. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 1, 2007 Updated: Dec 26, 2007[086-20061104] Tap @ Mill St. (Toronto, ON). Skunky chocolate bread or pizza aroma. Clear, dark amber body with a quick white head and one centralized stream of bubbles. Tastes of light bitter chocolate with a baby-poo aftertaste. Medium body, nice feel. Tastes a bit off but... it’s not. (Must re-rate later.) (5/4/4/3/9) 2.5
[712B-20070928] Tap @ C’est What 2007 FOSB (Toronto, ON). Faint grains and brewery alcohol aroma. Clear, orange brown body with a big long-lasting creamy white head. Some pumpkin fruit and old malt grain in the flavour. Medium body. Not repeatable. (4/4/5/3/10) 2.6 robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jan 26, 2007 to be honest, i thought the waitress had brought me a tankhouse when i had this at the brewpub. they look the exact same, and the only different is a SLIGHT difference in maltiness. Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Dec 3, 2006 Draught @ Mill Street Brewpub: Pours orange in colour, very little head off the taps as it came to me. Aroma is a sour/sweet vegetal quality, almost like wet grass, with a side of flowery hops. Flavour offers up more of that vegetal quality alongside those promised hops with some biting peppery spices I found quite pleasing. Not my favourite style of beer, it would seem, but I enjoyed it more than the others I tried this autumn.
