Commercial Description:
This continental lager has a deep golden hue, a giant rocky white head and a malty sweet nose. The first taste is sweet, but leads to a dry, hoppy bitter finish in the German Style. Mill Street Organic Pilsner is an excellent accompaniment to food or an excellent thirst quencher on its own.

Crisp, balanced, lemony and a bit grapey-sweet with a good body. Dark golden pour and small frothy head. Smells quit epure, a little grassy and sweet. The malt sweetnes stands up, the aroma could be more floral, but overall I like this local quaffer. Would drink again - this was on draught at MS brewpub.

Pint at The Kick Off in Waterloo. Taps a nice slightly deep golden with a large white frothy head. The aroma is very nice, elegant hop character, with some nice sweet grainy malts as well. The hop character is very much what I would expect from a Pils done in Ontario, and in fact both the aroma and flavour remind me a lot of Creemore’s Pilsener. Very nice, not too distinctive though. Very sweet but well balanced with the fine hoppiness. Glad to have tried it, and I would gladly session it, though I wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again.

On tap at Brewpub: Golden color. tight cap laces well....grainy light floral aroma. Nice whak of malt in the front but the balance wasn’t there from the Saaz..light clean finish. Tasty, malty-fresh, smooth and drinkable but not on target for the style.

Draught at brewpub. Not sure if this is the organic version...Mostly clear pure golden with aerated white head. Hops in aroma are promising a lot. Not pronounced but totally fresh. Hops! Hops! Yay! Refreshing! Bitter aftertaste over a soft, solid fresh grain body. A really nice (and hoppy!) pils.

Objectively speaking: A bland take on a great style.
I like: Clean, but…
I dislike: Completely lacking the hop punch, the malt intricacies or the freshness of the good examples. Nuance-less generic blond lager which aims at the masses with its generic Bio tag.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy blonde yellow with a medium white head. Has a great Saaz aroma. Reminds me of an Urquell. Incredible bolus of hop bitterness up front, then the beer just whimpers away. Very authentic and true to style.

Overall, this beer is a disappointing experience. It came, on draft, with no head and not appearing significanlty different than a glass of Allen’s apple juice. No, head and very little carbonation. Sleeman clear was also on tap that night and I might as well have ordered that. The flavor was faint...a slightly beery taste and that’s it.

Great pils, loads of floral hops, and some great grainy, bready malts. Ecellent example of the style.
