Commercial Description:
This continental lager has a deep golden hue, a giant rocky white head and a malty sweet nose. The first taste is sweet, but leads to a dry, hoppy bitter finish in the German Style. Mill Street Organic Pilsner is an excellent accompaniment to food or an excellent thirst quencher on its own.

Pilsner: Golden colour. Very north German nose - herbal and mossy like Wernesgruner. Very dry, hoppy and with very lean pale malts. Uber dry, herbal finish. Stylish, subtle, fun N German pils.

Organic Pilsner: Quite pale. Crisp, with moderate hoppiness and a slightly bready hop note. The balance is nice, but the flavours are quite light. It’s only a small step up from the Organic Lager. 5-1-6-3-12 = 2.7

Objectively speaking: A bland take on a great style.
I like: Clean, but…
I dislike: Completely lacking the hop punch, the malt intricacies or the freshness of the good examples. Nuance-less generic blond lager which aims at the masses with its generic Bio tag.

Decent taste, a tad of fruit and medium mouthfeel. Bit of hoppiness. Another middling brew from these brewers. However, that’s it, flat in appearance and no aroma. Not bitter, therefore better than their organic pils.

Bottle ( 341ml ). Purchased at the brewpub. Deep clear ruby-amber with a very large fizzy-foamy off-white lasting head (3+). Classic fresh grassy bitterness, mild fresh grain malt, a little toastier than I expected - quite clean. The taste follows, fresh grain, not as grassy, a bit better balanced; slightly soapy. Light body, dry, mildly carbonated, leaves a light iron aftertaste - by Canadian pils standards this is pretty friggin great, although it’s a bit watery, and I’d like some more oomph in the taste from those strong grassy aroma hops.

Medium, slightly fizzy head. Low carbonated gold brew. Slightly darker than most pilsners I had. Hoppy, clean nose, light malt content. Bitter at front medium bodied but still as I said hops are a bit overexposed here. Other than that nice pils.

December 2006. Draught at the brewpub as Pilsener. Not sure if this is the same beer or not so I will enter this here for now. Crisp pale yellow, small white head and very nice lacing (3+). Very floral, lightly perfumey aroma of (saaz?) hops. Flavour starts with a light fruity sweetness and has a very floral flavour with mdoerate european hop bitterness. Average palate. A very solid pilsener, leaning towards to floral side of the equation, but not really to my tastes. 6+/3+/6/3+14 - 3.3 <P>June 2004 Bottle. Crisp pale yellow with a good sized white head and moderate lacing on the glass. Aroma is pleasantly hoppy but on the light side, with some nice floral notes. Flavour is light and clean, with a nice hoppy bitterness with European (presumably German?) hops. Could use a touch more malt in the background for my own liking. Nice beer. An yes Organic IS a plus! Made all the tastier enjoyed at work in the middle of the day. 6/3/6/3/13 - 3.1

12 oz pour at the brewpub. Pours a light to medium gold and a nice lasting white head. Aroma is instantly white wine and slight cidery- strange- ok bready malts and some herbal hops. Flavor is also on the cidery side and has a cheap white wine quality- solvent like- cleanser- like a bleach solution as well- some bready malts with some hops green and grassy, and a moderate bitter finish. Something off about this one..

Bottle [34ml]. Pours a clear, very bubbly golden-orange with a diminishing fluffy white head. Slightly mild (but only slightly) aroma is decently hoppy with nice grassy hops but has some sweetness too with biscuity malt and sweet fruit. Flavour of grassy hops, sweet fruit and malt with a good dry bitter finish. I would have liked it to have been a bit more flavourful. Average to medium bodied. A pretty good Pilsener.
