Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sparkling Ale (6/05)
A golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops, no fillers or adjuncts. A brillant golden colour gives a “sparkling” appearance as the gas escapes from the glass. The natural sweetness of the malt is perfectly balanced by the bitterness derived from the hops. This beer represents the way blonde ales were made 100 years ago.

355 mL bottle: Tasty, drinkable ale. Great balance between hops and malt. Tastes sweet, maybe slightly fruity and grainy. Pale colour with light head. Here’s a solid blonde/blonde ale with medium to light body and no harshly bitter flavour or finish. This is well made & tastes fresher than most beers. I usually like my ales heavier with bolder flavours but this is good for style. If you compare it to other Mill St. brews you might view it as relatively thin, but I like the way it stands on its own for what it is. This beer knows where’s it going, while its big brothers Tankhouse & Coffee Porter are very confused with too much flavour going on. This is something I would reach for again.

Bottle from <a href=http://www.thebeerstore.ca/ target=blank>The Beer Store in Peterborough. Pale golden in colour, lasting white head, some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet, some grains, malts. The flavour is pretty light, some caramel malt sweetness, grains, grassy hops. Clean and crisp mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes thin, mildly bitter, short.

Dark straw-yellow; yellowish tinted, very fine & dense head. Strange nose, first sweet with toast or baked cake, then taken over by a repellent smell of goats’ cheese. Let me guess - "skunked" by the clear glass bottle? Again very toasted flavour, much more than the colour would suggest. Finishes crisp, leaving a bit of sweetness retronasal, which turns to full toffee flavour warming up. Light body, slight fizzy impression. Not very "erfreulich". I cannot understand why a micro can be that dense: bottling in clear glass. Thanks to my travelling partner in beer, TW.

Nothing special. Definitly Mill Streets worst beer, although most Canadian and Labbats Blue drinkers I know loved the stuff, but I would bet thats the kind of people Mill Street were trying to appeal to with this beer.

On tap at Alex P. Keaton (London, ON). Limpid golden body topped with a lasting white foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with herbal notes. Fair malty taste that carries hoppy and bready hints. Ends with a short bitter finish. Decent "everyday ale".

355ml clear bottle. Golden pour, fairly resilliant white head, left excellent clingy lacing. Faint aroma of fruity malt. Flavour is mild fruity malt and grains with suggestion of citrusy hop in the finish. Body borders on thin, carbonation was kept light. Slightly dissapointed with this one, though it is decent.

Light-gold appearance makes this look like a run-of-the-mill beer (pun intended). Nice hop-forward aroma plus a background of linoleum and hay...the sort of aroma profile one would expect from a lager. The palate is really nice, with a gritty grip and instant refreshment. Flavour is mostly grain with some good hop bitterness playing out on the medium-short finish. While neither complex nor reminiscent of a typical ale, the quality ingredients and workmanship float this beer above the macro mainstream.

355 ml Bottle, 5% a/v Pours an average gold color with a tight white head. Smells malty and a bit skunky. Almost like Corona. Tastes also fairly Corona-esque. A bit skunky and with a hoppy aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but not an every day beer either.
