Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sparkling Ale (6/05)
A golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops, no fillers or adjuncts. A brillant golden colour gives a “sparkling” appearance as the gas escapes from the glass. The natural sweetness of the malt is perfectly balanced by the bitterness derived from the hops. This beer represents the way blonde ales were made 100 years ago.

Light-gold appearance makes this look like a run-of-the-mill beer (pun intended). Nice hop-forward aroma plus a background of linoleum and hay...the sort of aroma profile one would expect from a lager. The palate is really nice, with a gritty grip and instant refreshment. Flavour is mostly grain with some good hop bitterness playing out on the medium-short finish. While neither complex nor reminiscent of a typical ale, the quality ingredients and workmanship float this beer above the macro mainstream.

355 ml Bottle, 5% a/v Pours an average gold color with a tight white head. Smells malty and a bit skunky. Almost like Corona. Tastes also fairly Corona-esque. A bit skunky and with a hoppy aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but not an every day beer either.

Yeah, this is pretty "stock." Similar hop profile to their vastly superior Tankhouse Ale, but this is considerably more thin, bubbly and citrusy. Pleasant, but disappointingly average for Mill St.

RE-RATE - this beer HAS gotten slowly better over the last year, I’ve had it on tap 5 times. Plus one each flavor + aroma + palate + overall. Thank you Mill Street!
old rating:
Sampled for the second time at the brewery - soapy and almost a corn sweetness over the finish. Admittedly not a connoiseur’s beer. My money’s on the Tankhouse. 5/3/5/3/10

I’m disapointed. 1’st open bottle from my buddy’s recent trip to TO. Pours yellow, thin whispy head, high carbonation. Aroma is a little malty, a little tangy,. Mouthfeel is a little chewy, a little oily. Tastes of fresh plumb malt, a little tangy, some acid, and a splash of skunky hop. Aftertaste is wet and soapy. Reminds me of all the clasic "Canadian Ales" of days gone by, such as export, laurentide or 50. Cheers

Mill Street’s version of the chuggers beer. Take the tankhouse, and reverse the hops and malts proportions, throw in some grain to the equation and zap away all the colour and double the bubble. Voila! The Stock!

I am a big Mill Street fan, so I really wanted to enjoy this one. The name itself reminded me of "Molson Stock" - the beer that my father and his buddies used to drink. If this beer is like what that one - they really didn’t have much taste. Pale gold with fast dying big suds. A decent fruity fresh aroma and a weak tangy taste that gives way to a thin fairly soapy aftertaste. The more I drank it, the less I liked it. I bought a 6 pack and will offer it to my friends, but I really didn’t like this one. Too bad, but I am still a Mill Street fan.
