Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sparkling Ale (6/05)
A golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops, no fillers or adjuncts. A brillant golden colour gives a “sparkling” appearance as the gas escapes from the glass. The natural sweetness of the malt is perfectly balanced by the bitterness derived from the hops. This beer represents the way blonde ales were made 100 years ago.

After having the pitiful Mill St. Organic I have my doubts, but after one sip I know there is nothing to worry about. Standard gold in colour with a one finger rocky white cap that survives just above a skim thoughout. Smell is pretty good but there is still some stank to this beer. It’s pretty much all grain but not grassy - some sweetness. Taste is missing any extra bitterness - thank that figurehead that people throw money at! This is a very drinkable brew. Comes across empty and bland but what is there is mainly sliced bread - yes, I have distinguished between sliced and non-sliced bread. Some typical Canadain bitterness. Light bodied, mildly carbonated, no middle, leaves the mouth on the dry side. Bitterness is there, yummy belch! Drinkable in mass quantity. Nice to have a blonde ale that is not heavily hopped, if you’d want it.

After having the Belgian wit, this beer dissapointed me. Pour is boringly golden ale with a thin white head. Aroma is slightly malty, some hoppiness and a prevalent aroma of corn and skunkiness. Taste is malty and skunky as well. THe aftertaste draws aways from the overall taste of this beer.

Sorry, I like this brewer, I really do but this is not only a pretty boring beer but the couple times I’ve had it it has been off. The first time I blamed the skunkiness on their unfortunate decision to put their product in a clear bottle but the second time was on tap at the brewpub. So, what up with that? Skunky, heavy diacetyl and corn flavor. I would give a worse rating but I know it is probably better than when I endured through it.

Pours a urine-like golden yellow with a thin white head. Corn, corn, and more corn in the aroma - yuck! Tastes of more corn, sweet malt, and cat-piss hops. Thin body with decent carbonation. I had to pour this one out as soon as my rating was complete.

341 mL bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a scanty white head that seems to want to stick to the sides of the glass as I tilt it. Although scanty, the head seems to have some staying power, leaving fine lace on the sides of the glass as the beer is sipped. The aroma is sweet, syrupy-grainy-malty and somewhat fruity, apple-like. Flavor? I wouldn’t call it watery but it is quite light and the hops don’t make themselves too well known. The carbonation is very much there although not too overpowering. A subtle toffee-like note floats on the tongue after the swallow. A fairly likeable mild ale.

Pours a bright yellow, with a quickly dissapating white head. Smells like apple juice and grain. Tastes sweet, apple juice, grain, that’s about it. Non-offensive... Not very flavorful. If you wanted to get hammered this could do, but a little too sweet for that also.

Draught @ brewpub. Medium golden, clear with 1/2 inch white head. Slightly skanky aroma is sweet with diacetyl. Soft carbonation. Awefully bad. Sweet and nasty, "bordering on horrific" like sour milk. "I’d be doing myself a disservice to drink more."
