Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sparkling Ale (6/05)
A golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops, no fillers or adjuncts. A brillant golden colour gives a “sparkling” appearance as the gas escapes from the glass. The natural sweetness of the malt is perfectly balanced by the bitterness derived from the hops. This beer represents the way blonde ales were made 100 years ago.

Darkish yellow, with minimal head. Don’t know if the sniffer is on the fritz, but all I get is a bit of yeast/bread. Not strong tasting at all - quite sweet and drinkable. No bitterness at all - and I drank it very cold. A disappointment when compared to Tankhouse, but better than most mainstream beers.

[bottle somewhere in the TO distillery] Clear straw with a ring surrounding white islands. Crisp aroma of mega swill hopping with a surprising blast of caramel. Gentle noble hops flavour with low caramel and a touch heavy on the DMS/corn. Also a little sour. Medium body with low flavour, medium carbonation, and a watery sour finish. Is this an ale?

More sweetness then I like for an ale, there is a good combination of hops and malt, but again I’d perfer a little more bitterness.

341 ml bottle: Poured out a nice pale golden colour with lots of carbonation bubbles and a thin white head. A malty sweet aroma with a pleasant blending of hops and malt flavourings. Fresh tasting with a nice sweet finish. All in all a flavourful and balanced tasting ale.

Light golden color. Bready with a light sweet malt flavor, and hoppy finish. Fairly well rounded.

355 mL bottle: Tasty, drinkable ale. Great balance between hops and malt. Tastes sweet, maybe slightly fruity and grainy. Pale colour with light head. Here’s a solid blonde/blonde ale with medium to light body and no harshly bitter flavour or finish. This is well made & tastes fresher than most beers. I usually like my ales heavier with bolder flavours but this is good for style. If you compare it to other Mill St. brews you might view it as relatively thin, but I like the way it stands on its own for what it is. This beer knows where’s it going, while its big brothers Tankhouse & Coffee Porter are very confused with too much flavour going on. This is something I would reach for again.
