Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

Clear copper poor with a thin beigish head. Aromas of hickory, burnt caramel, cascade hops, yogourt, avocado... Sweet, spicy, peppery flavors. Definitely bitter... but the bitterness is a creeper and longlasting. Dry mouthfeel, medium bodied and nicely effervescent. Added flavors of honeycomb.

On tap at the brewery. Easy to drink.. Was the best of the five sampled, but that’s not saying much. Was definitely the only one of the five that I would pay to drink again.

Redish copper colour. Clarity is good along with the head development. Not much aroma to speak of - little hint of citrus. Taste- malt bill is good, but the hops taste stale. Grassy and muddy hops- not so good. Mouthfeel is ok and finsih is dry from the hops. Easy enough to drink but the flavour would get pretty tiring after a couple. Not a bad effort from a canadian brewer.

33 cl bottle, Shelburne. Dark amber/brown colour, spicy hop aroma. Smooth caramel flavor, sweet slightly spicy finish. Quite nice.

Whisky bronze with a holding ecru head, lacing well. Rye & oregano sharp off the top. Low vegetal notes and mild malts all make for a "soupy" aroma. An odd herbal hoppiness to the flavor when I was half-expecting citrics (but I suppose I’m a long haul away from the Pacific Northwest). Rye comes out but malts and a touch of yeast create a sweet rye-bread character. Nice.

Beer pours dark amber with a nice head. It shows nice notes of hops and then gives a deep hop and bitter flavor. Finishes nice and smooth!
