Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

Bottle from six pack. Finally had the last one after a few weeks and this will be the one rate with. Pours dark copper, with beige head that fades but leaves pretty good lacing. Aroma is nice and spicy. Flavour is well balanced and very clean. The finish is very nice with just the right amount of spice for my liking. The bitterness lingers very neatly. Delicious. **Re-rate: May 20th 2008 - Another six pack: much better than I remember. Knocked it up a few more points**

12oz bottle from robinboyer. Aroma: lightly toasted malt, orange zest, light pine and some subtle spiciness. Appearance: Dark amber/orange in color and slightly hazed. Light khaki head was full and foamy with good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Some toasted malt upfront with a bit of nuttiness and caramel. Light pine, orange, and spicy hops. Bitterness was smooth and refreshing. Clean finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: A smooth and very drinkable APA. Could definitely spend an evening knocking these back.

bottle thanks to blankboy...pours deep amber with decent sized white head, strong malty aroma...taste is suprisingly dry with a hop combo that I cannot put my finger on. Palate is rather full bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Decent session beer with some attitude.

This was my go-to weekend beer while living in Toronto. Is great on tap, and even better on cask (Volo Cask Days). Pours copper-red in colour with a decent amount of head. There is an assertive amount of hops and nice spicyness that makes the beer great. The beer has a very clean finish and is very, very drinkable. Please export to Switzerland!

Nice reddish colour, very hoppy and spicy in scent, not sweet and not bitter; just right. The flavour is exactly the same, hopping and spicy. Very unique and very good. One of my favourite and most consistent beers.

Pours copper red. Strong aromas of hops and spices with more subtle hints of yeast/rice. Sweet hop flavours overpowered by spice mixture IMO. Long lasting bitter flavours.

Appearance is an interesting combination of orange, brown and red. Good malty presence on the nose, chocolate, and an enlivening fruitiness. The flavour evolution is quite complex and enjoyable, beginning with fruit, morphing to bitter chocolate and a pleasant chalky bitterness. Good bitter length, as the flavours battle back and forth between sweet fruit, warming malt and bitterness, leaving several final impressions. A top-notch ale.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a nice white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy, with a bit of an outdoorsy nature smell. Aroma also contains a small tinge of apricot. Flavor is a bit spicy, with fairly strong hops that were present in the aroma. Finishes a bit bitter, but in a quick, clean sort of way. Overall, a nice beer with some unique characteristics. One of my local favourites.
