Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

Auburn with a bit of head, most of which disappeared. Aroma and taste are both quite complex. The taste is complex, spicy, bitter...perfect. Wonderfully smooth, bitter finish. The world’s finest ale.

Bottle. Deep copper with a small white head.Pretty complex aroma dominated by hops, floral, roasted malts, caramel earthy notes. Taste is a little more fruity then what I expected, but very well balanced. Nothing bad to say about this one.

The second of the three beer in the Volo Sampler from September 14, 2006. It was a 5 oz sample that poured a nice golden amber colour with an off-white head that did not last very long. There was minimal or no lacing in the glass… may present more readily in a larger sample as the glass was cleaned prior to pouring. There was moderate carbonation present in the beer as there were 4 or 5 columns bubbling up while resting. The citrusy hop notes hit the nose right up front and keep on running. The first taste brings it full circle tasting remarkably like a fresh ruby red grapefruit (and thus continues my love affair with hops…) The beer slides on to your tongue like a cashmere glove and then tricks you when the carbonation shows its head and prickles the back of your tongue on the way down. It’s like drinking a fresh glass of grapefruit juice (with a kick!)

Interesting flavour, It is strong, but the flavour is just hopy, the brown appearance is very nice and good suagr alike foam. THe smell is hopy too, but It is not a bitter. Good beer too.

355ml Bottle: My 100th! I wanted to find something worth remembering for #100 and my first taste of Mill St sounded as good as any other. Comes in the cool, environmentally friendly printed bottle so I’m liking it already. Pours nicely with a small-ish head that dropped to a nice lacing; copper body with slight streams of carbonation. Aroma hits hard on floral hops with sweet malts and candyfloss, quite nice. My first taste came in balanced bitter with a cool sweetness - this truly is one of the better balanced ales I’ve tried. Cascade hops abound, they’ve been generous, and a hint of grapefruit nabs you at the end. Complex, balanced, good all around. Here’s to the next 100!

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a large white head, which disappears quickly but leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma shows that this beer is generous with the malts and hops - lots of floral and citrus cookie. Cookies and spices and oranges in the taste, with a pure grapefruit aftertaste. Lightly carbonated... pretty smooth. Not a bad brew at all.

(Rating #636)

Via HogTownHarry. The beer pours to a clean dark orange caramelly body with a nice lasting rocky white head and good lacing. The aroma is extremely hoppy and malty. Grapefruit, apricots, oatmeal raisin cookies, light gingerbread. Very nice aroma. The flavor starts out hoppier and finishes extremely malty. Muddled citrus morphs into crystal malt oatmeal raisin cookies. Pretty decent. The palate is decent and middle of the road. Very pleasing alternative APA. Nicely malty!
