Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

355ml Bottle: My 100th! I wanted to find something worth remembering for #100 and my first taste of Mill St sounded as good as any other. Comes in the cool, environmentally friendly printed bottle so I’m liking it already. Pours nicely with a small-ish head that dropped to a nice lacing; copper body with slight streams of carbonation. Aroma hits hard on floral hops with sweet malts and candyfloss, quite nice. My first taste came in balanced bitter with a cool sweetness - this truly is one of the better balanced ales I’ve tried. Cascade hops abound, they’ve been generous, and a hint of grapefruit nabs you at the end. Complex, balanced, good all around. Here’s to the next 100!

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a large white head, which disappears quickly but leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma shows that this beer is generous with the malts and hops - lots of floral and citrus cookie. Cookies and spices and oranges in the taste, with a pure grapefruit aftertaste. Lightly carbonated... pretty smooth. Not a bad brew at all.

(Rating #636)

Via HogTownHarry. The beer pours to a clean dark orange caramelly body with a nice lasting rocky white head and good lacing. The aroma is extremely hoppy and malty. Grapefruit, apricots, oatmeal raisin cookies, light gingerbread. Very nice aroma. The flavor starts out hoppier and finishes extremely malty. Muddled citrus morphs into crystal malt oatmeal raisin cookies. Pretty decent. The palate is decent and middle of the road. Very pleasing alternative APA. Nicely malty!

bottle: Pours a dark copper with a medium off white head creamy head. Aroma is almost reminiscent of oatmeal-raisin cookies with a strong fruity hop Flavour is medium hopped (again fruity) and full bodied. My first Mill St. brew and it was very nice.

Draught half-pint at Pub Italia in Ontario in the company of the estimable CapFlu. Clear amber with little head and a touch of lacing....light citrus and apricot aroma, hoppy without being overly acidic, nice caramel notes come on strongly as it warms....orangy citric body is faintly acidic, very fruity and lightly tart, moderately bitter and eminently well-constructed with low to medium peppy carbonation. Nothing spectacular but a pleasant summer quaff.

Bottle Clear, amber body. Off-white, large, lasting, creamy head. Intense aroma of hops with some liquor added. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initial flavour. Heavily bitter, lightly sweet finish. Quite interesting, but has a little bit flawness. Still quite complex. Very soft mouthfeel.
