Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

(thanks to Jah Noth for sending me this sample!!) Love the stubby bottle. REddish brown pour with a thin veil of head. Carmely malt aromas with a trace of hops. Some toasted malts, too. Grainy flavors. Some carmel and toast, but edgy. Finishes with some more grainy notes and a little piney hops.

Bitter with a strong after taste. Nice golden colour, but it sticks around way too long.

Strong grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, spicy hops in the nose are supported by a strong caramel maltiness. Clear, copper coloured body with a fine-bubbled white head that recedes to a generous cover with some patchy lacing. Assertive bitterness up front subsumed with chewy caramel and bready malts that are joined by orange and pine hop flavours that last on the tongue. A hint of dark malts in the finish. Dry, medium body with moderate carbonation. Very enjoyable. Shaker, just above fridge temp. Bottle (RBSG’05 leftovers).

Pours a clear red with a thin white head, slightly effervescent, with rather good lacing. Aroma of hops, quite floral, some malt, elements of the aroma are one of my favourite smells in beer. Taste was hoppy and sweet malts, with a long hoppy finish, not too bitter. Mouthfeel was that of a good session beer, a little thin, but very crisp. I’d like to try this on tap, and have many.

Bright dark golden colour with a frothyalmond-coloured head. The nose is fresh with hints of citrus fruit and ripe with hops and resin. Slight hint of orange peel with a bit of sweet malt. The body is nicely spritzy and starts with a nice semi-sweet maltiness with hints of citrus. Quickly moves into a nicely balanced resiney hoppiness that carries a semi-dry bitterness into the end. A good pale ale, nice session beer.

Sampled at the 2005 RBSG. Deep copper color with a thin, fizzy beige head. Hops and malts were both eveident in the nose. Well balanced pine hop flavors and sweet grain malts. This is a solid session pale ale.

Bottle... RBSG2005... Amber ale with a creamy, white head. Floral, citrusy aroma with lots of grapefruit and pine. Malty, caramelly flavor. Medium-bitter - medium sweet - medium bodied. Creamy with lively carbonation. Thanks go out to dougshoemaker for the bottle.

Light bubbly amber with small beige head. Surprisingly sweet, caramelly and bready nose, but as it warms, earthy, citrusy and floral. Direct, to the point and surprisingly efficient despite the fact that I feel like I’ve had this beer quite a few times with different labels. Rather linear flavor presentation. Sweet palate, light-medium body, moderate carbonation.
