Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

341ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark amber, with a small head that leaves great lacing. Wonderful rich hop aroma. Flavour is rich malts with some gritty hop backbone. Very nice beer indeed.

In pint glass in Toronto Massive, chunky beige head. Brilliant Magnificent deep red color. Some malt on the aroma, but it is slight. Later in the glass the malt was more pronounced with slight pine. Full mouthfeel with maltiness following through to a bitter end. I enjoyed this beer, but was mostly pleased by the appearance.....would have liked to have said the same about the taste!

Dark amber with an off white head, great lacing. Aroma reveals a nutty maltiness and a tonne of hops. The malts, supporting hops. Really great balanced beer.

Bottle. Aroma of powdered cocoa, malt, and hops. Taste is very cocoa sweet with a bitter hop finale. Medium carbonation gives a neat mouthfeel, and the lingering finish is quite enjoyable.

On tap at the brewery, copper-amber color, with a white head, nice hoppy nose of juicy citrusy, lemon peel floral hop grassiness and leafiness, with a biscuity, toasty malt accent, and some piney, resinous aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, flowery hop, leafy character, with some resinous, piney notes, and some toasted, bicuity malt, light toffee accents, and a zesty, citrusy hoppiness, leading towards a grassy, leafy, hop bittering finish.

Ruby-copper pour with a small off-white head. Aroma of apple cider, orange peel, pine and earthy caramel. The flavor is floral pine with a touch of citrus. Biscuit malt with a touch of caramel and a dry finish. Medium-thin body with moderate carbonation. Nice session ale.

Bottle, thanks to Macadem for sharing. Pours a medium reddish-amber, good head, decent lacing. Nose is bright and hoppy, plenty of citrus and leaf, as well as caramel. Palate isn’t as strong, boiled vegetables, caramel, tea, grain, milder, weaker, thinner hops. A decent APA, but it really could have been better.

A nice hoppy aroma on this, with slight toffee. Taste is a little weak though, with english tea, hops and malt. Pours dark amber with a frothy white head. The carbonation gives it a nice full mouthfeel.

Bottle. 5.2%. Clear amber pour, well carbonated, decent white foam, good retention. Aroma is nice, sweet and malty. That ends quickly. This tasted like chemicals, or Barq’s root beer fermented under a radiator in substandard housing. I couldn’t finish it. I opened another bottle in the hopes that it was just spoiled, but it too was putrid. Will have to re-rate if I head east. Re-rate. New bottle. Take back the radiator comment. Taste is still sweet and malty, but this time, no train-wreck blast of chemical hops. Still very hoppy and bitter on the finish, but this time, I’m not running for the spit bucket. Decent Pale.
