It’s like a stout that’s not really a stout. Dark color, minimal tan head, creamy pour. Even the flavor set me up for a nice stout. But then the flavor was flat and unimpressive. Fizzy palate (which turns me off in a stout). Overall, not great.

(12oz bottle, thanks MilkmanDan) Small tan head atop a black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, caramel, some cherry, butter, light coffee. Taste is medium sweet, chococoffee, some roast, light burnt. Watery medium body. Despite its unusualness, by no means is this a bad beer.

February 2006 bottle. Pours to a dark brown/black body with a nice creamy brown head. The aroma is sweet chocolate oatmeal dessert bars. The flavor is a really oaty roasted chocolate malt. Coffee notes on the finish. The palate is dry and roasty with a pretty decent oatmeal feel. I’m going way against the grain on this one. Perhaps the brewer makes better batches of this beer in the winter months?

Bottle. Deep dark brown in color with a non lasting tan head. Malty and roasty aroma. Caramel and chocolatety notes. Flavor is sweet and toasty. Coffee like roast flavor. Finish is hoppy. Nice hop presence. Thin bodied. Ok beer.

This beer came to me from my beer club. I am not otherwise familiar with this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized very dark brown head. The aroma is sweet and roasty with sweet chocolate and coffee elements. The flavor is moderately sweet, roasty, toasty and has a light chocolate element and a hint of coffee. There is a moderate floral hop presence. The finish is roasty and chocolaty. The mouthfeel is moderately thick.

12 oz bottle, via JCapriotti. Pours a fairly thin looking black colored body under a small fleeting fizzy brown head. Nose is a little grainy and husky with some roast and coffee. A little light on the aroma overall. Flavor is thin as well with some light roast and harsh grainy malt up front fading to a chalky and astringent finish with a touch of coffee. Mouthfeel is a little thin with too much fizzy carbonation. Overall, a pretty weak effort, it seems as though I’ve used the word thin quite a bit in this rating. Needs alot more body and depth of flavor. There really wasn’t any noticable oat character at all either.

Looked good. Black with a small brown head. Aromas of coffee, malted chocolate, vanilla, caramel. Faint, however. Medium bodied and too much carbonation. Flavor was unimpressive. A bit too bitter.

Dark brown/black pour… creamy tan ring of a head. Dry roasty aroma with a lingering hint of a sweet background. Sweet, roasty flavor that grows on you. Some coffee covered and brown sugar sweetened oatmeal. It isn’t the best and could be a little less watery, but its okay.
