Commercial Description:
The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 10% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! But the real secret is in our lager yeast. Most stouts are made using ale yeast, but we wanted ours to be a smooth as our lagers! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors.

Bottle. Pours dark brown to black with an edgy tan unimpressive head. Dark and sweet chocolate malt (meal, cookie) aroma with smoky and fruit hop notes. Bitter thin dark coffee and chocolate flavor with toffee-ish notes and plum. Dark and thin, fizzy palate.

Quite dark, cool bottle,, head quickly dissipated, not much to seperate itself from other brews

The best thing about this one is the bottle I’m going to reuse and put in my growler collection. Otherwise it was a mild tasting stout by any means.

frighteningly bland, standard dark brown color, beige head. aroma is mild roast, very slightly sweet with faint notes of chocolate. this really is a very boring and thin beer.

Out of a bottle, pouring it into a glass it had the same color as used 10W-30 motor oil. Aroma is of freezer-burned chocolate. Taste is really not much better, reminding me of malty, wet cardboard. I keep waiting for a redeeming quality, but, alas, I don’t think it’s going to come.

Very dark with a dark bronze head the foamed way up, but the dissipated right away. Had an interesting nose, but I caught something way off in there. It was something I’d noticed in their beers many years ago when we’d toured the place. They don’t all have that particular characteristic, not sure what it is. Reminds me a little of bacteria or wild yeast, but don’t think that’s it. Anyway, other n that, it’s not too bad. Wouldn’t go after it unless there were’nt any thing better. Got this in a beer o the month shipment.

This was alright. Poured dark brown with a thick head that lacked creaminess. Smell is ok some caramel, chocolate and coffee but nothing to lure you in. Taste has those things but is watery not to top it off.

Utterly forgettable. So much so that I ended up giving away my last two bottles. The folks at Millstream tried to be different and use lager yeast and this time that inventiveness did not pay off.
