Commercial Description:
The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 10% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! But the real secret is in our lager yeast. Most stouts are made using ale yeast, but we wanted ours to be a smooth as our lagers! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors.

meh. I don’t get the stout with a lager yeast thing at all. Tends toward a cola flavor and fizzy body. not great.

pretty darn good stout. pours a nice dark brown color with a light brown head. Roasty oatmeal taste, another great iowa brew.

12 oz. Deep black pour with brown head. Slight sweet aroma almost unnoticeable. Using a lager yeast makes it to crisp for me to appreciate. Taste was not what I expected for oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel was blah and aftertaste was lack luster. Glad I picked it up as a single.

Bottled. Black in color upon pouring. Slick appearance. Sweet black licorice aroma. Semi-sweet flavored. Much like a low alcohol foreign stout. full flavored and bodied. I really enjoyed this.

there really isn’t any lager character in this beer, so it’s weird that it’s listed as such. i guess they use a lager yeast, but it’s meaningless. chocolatey and smooth with a fair amount of hops, this was among the more drinkable offerings i found out of millstream.

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (220808)

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of pepsican. Pours an opaque dark brown with an orange hue and a small light brown head. Sweetish aroma of hard roasted malt. Quite full-bodied for such a low ABV beer with plenty of sweetish roasted malts a whiff of coffee and an edge of dried fruits. Has a light malt bitterness in the finish. 220808
