Commercial Description:
The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 10% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! But the real secret is in our lager yeast. Most stouts are made using ale yeast, but we wanted ours to be a smooth as our lagers! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors.

I just tried this one recently and was thorougly impressed. although my palate had been slightly worn throughout the weekend, I was still able to notice the dark, rich chocolate malts and soft sweet texture of the beer. The colour was dark brownish black that carried a large tan head. Aroma was nutty sweet, of oatmeal and raisins.

Delicious. Nose full of char, oak, and almost maple syrup sweetness. Pours a jet black with a white head with short life. Charcoal, oak, malt, and chocolate on a tight but creamy palate.

12 oz bottle. Poured clear, deeper brown with a short-lived cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolates and lightly-toasted oats with a bit of milky sweetness behind.. simple, but solid. The flavor had sticky roasted black patent malts at the core with milk chocolate and oats spreading outward.. super-sweet and a touch buttery on the finish with a light coffee bitterness. Sweet and medium-bodied on the palate with smooth carbonation (but a little too much of it).. sticky, not very enjoyable finish. This was OK.

Pour is black with a thin almost nonexistent tan head...smell is faintly roasty with lots of dried meat (like pepperoni and salami)...just cured meat...taste is fairly roasty and lightly sweet with a thin fizzy mouthfeel...some roasty chocolate flavors...

12oz bottle. pours very dark with very thin off white head around the rim. aroma of chocolate syrup. the mouth feel is noticed first as its extremely watery and fizzy. flavors aren’t horrible but the mouth feel is so bad everything seems off. chocolately and soy flavor profile. blah.

Pours pitch black with a fully receding dark brown head. Aroma of mild roast, chocolate, molasses, and toffee. Tastes of debittered roast, chocolate, toffee, and oatmeal. Medium to full bodied with spritzy caronation. I thought this was a good stout, certainly underrated.

Dark body with almost non-existent tan head. Smells of roasted chocolate and oats. Some coffee. Flavor is just flat though with what seems to be a buttery finish. Body is a bit thin without much to it.

pours black, thin tan haed. chocolate, coffee, honey (?). flavor is a bit smoky, but mostly coffee and chocolate and some kind of fruity taste. finish is coffee-ish, but too sweet for me. not a favorite style.
