Commercial Description:
The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 10% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! But the real secret is in our lager yeast. Most stouts are made using ale yeast, but we wanted ours to be a smooth as our lagers! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors.

Black, thin tan creamy head. Nose was full of buttery cocoa and popcorn. Tangy chocolate sour cream and butter flavors are prevalent throughout. Light bodied and thin with soft carbonation. Thanks for sharing this gem, acrdz! ;) Seriously though, WTF is this!?

1L bottle, courtesy of fjdkl;fgjadlgk;. Thanks, Mike! Pours a dark, chocolate brown color; patchy, medium tan head. Butter, bitter chocolate, and cocoa in the aroma; plenty of butter; something awry. Slightly sour, buttery character in the aroma; obviously a butter-bomb, over a bitter chocolate and green coffee core; they really need to fill these 1L bottles better; we had a 1L of the white beer a while back that had also gone buttery. Buttery and cocoa in the finish; some tartness.

Courtesy of acrdz. Black body with a small, creamy tan head. The nose is diacetyl, brown sugar, molasses, toffee and light chocolate. The flavor is fairly dry with acidic coffee, light chocolate and raisins. Medium/light body is thin and watery with moderate carbonation. Gross.

Aromas of chocolate, coffee and dark toasted malt. Very dark brown color with a tan head that just ringed. Medium to full bodied with creamy carbonation. First flavors are something like coffee and toasted malt. Then another, sweet, flavor shows up that might reflect the lager aspects. Not necessarily bad, but it tends to reinforce that this is not a standard stout. Drinkable, but not so pleasant as many outmeal stouts. Finish is sort of coffee and dark malts with some bitter, but not necessarily as much as would be appropriate. Maybe it’s just too sweet for my tastes.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass- in trade with ketchepillar- poured non transparent black, tan head formed and stayed for ten minutes, medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malt, brown sugar, and a dark molasses quality to it. Hits the mouth with a thick chewy quality, alot of roasted malt and dark toffee notes, finish fades away slowly. Makes me crave a cigar everytime I sip it. Don’t know why this is rated so low- had this at room temp. for a month before I remembered I had it, tastes good to me!

Thanks to ketchepillar for this bottle through trade.
Pous a nice dark black with a lasting soft and creamy tan head. Smell is metallic, but nicely raosty and some ash, sweetness, and coffee as well. Taste is nicely balanced with coffee, soft oatmeal creaminess and a medium roastiness and light body. Drinks very easily, but not too thin, still. Pretty good, and I actually liked this one quite a bit more than expected. I felt it was pretty underrated.

Thick black in color which lets little to no light through. Decent tan colored head and little lacing. Smell is rich but not heavy at all, roasted malt with a hint of oatmeal in there too. And, then comes the taste - damnit! Flavor is just not doing it for me - maybe some oatmeal in there and maybe something else to it - but it is fairly bland and not exciting. Palate is thin and highly carbonated - not really what I am looking for in a Stout.

12 bottle from pepsican. Sweet barley grain and roasted malt aroma. Black body with dark tan head. Medium body texture but the dry coffee flavor blends in good to hols back the sweet malt. Barley oat grain present. Roasted dry coco aftertaste with a touch of sweetener lingers. Good Brew.
